Hello guys its the hubby posting on behalf of my wife, we had our 20 week scan today and lets just it was emotional, everything was fine the scan all went well however the sonographer when looking at the baby couldnt find the Cerebellum because of how the baby was positioned as it was low down and they couldnt see the back of head. When finding out this the mrs was in tears and I was emotional aswell, we have now been referred to Luton and Dustanable hospital for a scan on 27th Feb as they have told us they are experts in this field and have better equipment then the hospital we went to. So can see if its there.
I hope and pray everything is okay and its not something to be worried about. The baby is a girl aswell need your prayers guys and support for my wife as she is very very upset and cannot stop crying. 😔
Any advice guys to keep us both sane and not be emotional wrecks.

I don't have much advice just wanted to send my love and best wishes. I guess keeping busy might be the best way to help the time go in faster xo
Hello
Very often they are unable to see parts during the scans as the baby is not in the correct position. Lots of people have to go back again. We will all be praying for you and totally there for you. Unfortunately sometimes our medics for some reason just don't understand the worry we have when everything is not explained to the finest detail. Hopefully all will be well with your next scan xxx
Hi when I had my 20 week scan the exact same thing happened to us. It was a really nerve racking time and we had scan after scan after scan. They needed to see the whole head because of the risk of Edwards and trisomy disorders. Which obviously are severe defects. It really was a scary time. I was so stressed the scans were daily but We were 23 weeks before my son was finally in a position to see the whole skull which thankfully was complete.
I can understand her worry, but hopefully it was just a stubborn baby who is giving you a taste of the mischief that’s yet to come when she arrives. Stay away from google is my advice. I’m sure everything is fine 💕💕
Thank you all for the comments misswinkey34 so glad your son is all good. Hopefully our daughter is all good aswell. I was reading the wifes growth scan report they wrote and it said “it was not possible to obtain normal views of the foetal cerebellum. Anatomy? Positional?” Also it mentions “no other obvious fetal abnormolity detected” hopefully this isnt serious and as you said a stubborn baby trying to scare mom and dad!!
All the other results are normal, so hopefully all will be okay. Thank you all for your support in this stressful time for my wife!
Yep, I think it’s just literally because of the position. But they can’t complete the anomaly scan without it, so hopefully the little one will be more cooperative next time 💕
Babies are notorious for being in the wrong position or wiggling around too much for good pics or measurements to be done. Sounds like you’ve got mischief on your hands. Good luck for the next scan!
I had to hang about for hours after a scan as they couldn't see what they needed to see. Had to drink cold water and eat and be rescanned and jump up and down etc. Going back would have been a good option!
Sure everything will be fine. You get another free scan to see your little girl aswell
I had to have 5 scans over 6 weeks before they said all was well so I remember the fear well. They didn’t explain it very well so that added to the panic. One nurse told me to go and have ‘half a pee’ which was the weirdest instruction I’ve ever been given! Another said drink a fizzy irnbru and come back in an hour.
I don’t think they are trained well in dealing with people in these situations. I think they should be much more sensitive to the worries especially when it’s been hard to conceive or following IVF and miscarriages.
I paid for an extra private scan which was a much more pleasant experience. They took much more time, tried several angles and explained everything in much more detail.
Thankfully my baby was just stubborn and was awkward for every scan through the whole pregnancy but is absolutely perfect. Fingers crossed it’s the same for you both.
Hello guys just came back from hospital and the sonographer saw the celeberrum which is good, i am 20weeks 2 days pregnant but when they measured the celeberrum it was show 18mm and then 20mm which wasnt matching my dates.
She said the images werent that clear and we have to go back next tuesday to see if it has grown. So hopefully all will be okay. Is there advice on how I can make the celeberrum grow or is that down to the baby!!
Thank you all for the lovely comments it means alot
