Hi

I am new on here, the lovely nurse who did my blood test last week suggested joining a group like this to help.

Since having my implant out so we could start trying my periods have been completely irregular going from 20 to 32 to 18 days at a time. I have had blood tests, ultra sounds and swabs - all of which has come back normal. My husband the same with his tests.

We have been referred to a fertility clinic. Just struggling to understand what is wrong with me as nothing seems to be giving me answers.

One of my best friends has announced she is pregnant with her second child. I'm really happy for her but it has also made me feel like a complete failure as I can't.

Everyone is telling me not to think about it and it will happen but its difficult each month.

Sorry for such a long post - just feel like I have no one to really talk to who understands.

Thank you all for listening to my ramble!

Hi and welcome :)

I'm glad you've joined. You will find lots of advice and support here from all of the lovely people.

I don't have any advice on your cycles as I've not had a similar experience but some ladies here may have.

Aww, it's always hard to hear pregnancy announcements from close friends and family and even work mates. It seems so cruel, you're happy for them but so sad for yourself.

You are not a failure by any means, you may not conceive how you thought you would but it will happen, you're just taking different steps to get there.

people mean well when they say 'forget about it' or 'relax' but it's not helpful at all when you're struggling to conceive. I've heard these same comments for years and now I try to let it go over my head as most people don't even know about our journey or that we are going through IVF.

You're really not alone here, so so many of us relate to how you feel and you can always come here and have a rant about things.

Here any time you need to chat. xxx

Hi Piggles, welcome to the forum, you’re in good company, sadly.

Me and DH too have ‘unexplained infertility’ with everything so far coming back ‘normal’ so I understand how frustrated and confused you feel about that! On one hand, I don’t want anything to be wrong but on the other, why are we not conceiving! An answer would be productive at least.

I’m not a doctor but have you looked into hormonal imbalance? You could have high or low estrogen or progesterone which can be caused by the pill or stress or anything really. Something to at least rule out (and not something that necessarily shows up on blood tests, mine didn’t).

Have you tried acupuncture? I’ve been going for a few weeks now and I’ve noticed my periods are more predictable. I have suspected low progesterone (or estrogen dominance as my acupuncturist calls it) and since starting acupuncture I’m pretty sure my progesterone has increased in the 2WW.

The wait for fertility clinic appointments can be really frustrating, so do as much as you can to be ready for it and to take some control back - look at your diet, do calming things like yoga and meditation and anything else that your gut is telling you to look into. xx

Great advice from your nurse. I hope this forum will help you to share what you’re going through with women and men who know exactly what you’re going through.

I know it doesn’t help when well meaning relatives and friends tell you to “relax” and “it will happen”.

Pregnancy news can also be very hard to deal with but please don’t ever feel like a failure.

I’m hoping that the fertility clinic you’ve been referred to will be a step in the right direction for you in terms of finding some answers and helping you get any treatment you might need.

Keep in touch with us all xx

Hi Piggles. It can take a few months for your periods to get back to what was normal for you. Try not to worry as they have drugs that can help. Good luck! Diane
