Hi all. One question. I am going to have IVF treatment soon, and wonder if I should have a break from work while taking IVF drugs. Are the side effects mild that can allow you to work? Tnx

It depends on your response the protocol length, and what drugs you're on. I went through long protocol. I only had one day off work when the down regulation drug made me feel very dizzy a d nauseous but once I got used to it it was fine. Everyone will react differently. Good luck x

Hi Misheel, everyone is different but I have had no side effects during the IVF apart from being more tired than usual and having “heavy” ovaries just before EC. I have been working from home after egg collection until test day as my commute is 1,5h. I had supportive boss who let me do this. I have a new boss now and was given 2 massive projects so not sure how I will juggle work and IVF this time. Good luck with everything x

I dunno when I went through the Ivf cycle I felt like I wish I had time off work, the amount of drugs and appointments etc it’s all too much. The injections are usually in the evening. Mine made me drowsy and on most days I was asleep by 10.30.

Hi

I managed to work through with my stim medication, I was on 450 Menopur and Cetritide.

I had a headache on day 1, bloating from around day 8 and tiredness but I'm always tired.

It depends how you feel, just see how you get on.

Good luck xx

Hi Misheel,

My first round I was on the long protocol . I had the suprecur nasal spray for down reg - after about a week and half, noticed a real change in my moods. Very short fuse & would get angry and very ratty very quickly. As progressed very weepy as well. It was the mood swings and how quickly that was very hard for us to deal with. Gonal-F injections later on in round - didn't notice any effects from this as such.

Second round and this round - short protocol with menopur and cetrotide. Last round bruising on belly from the cetrotide and skin itching.

Only real noticeable effect this round has been the tiredness (trigger shot will be in under an hour!)- but had holiday just before starting which is just how things have worked out and I've been signed off this entire round (also off entire second round)

Everyone is different but I worked through three rounds and a frozen embryo transfer.

Hi, I was on the short protocol and at risk of hyper stimulating. I had no symptoms at all apart from the afternoon before egg collection I was abit uncomfortable on the right hand side when sitting.

I didn’t feel emotional just normal.

And I still do now. Tuesday is the day I take my pregnancy test.

I’ve had a few twinges but that’s about it and worked all the way through.

Everyone is different.
