Hi,
Has anyone used letrozole instead of clomid for ovulation induction with any success? I’m due to start on my next cycle.
Thanks xx

Hi, I’m on my third cycle of letrozole because clomid did not work for me and no luck so far! But I haven’t heard lots of success stories! X
Thanks for your reply. Sorry you’ve had no luck so far. How many times can you try it for? Do they give you a HCG trigger shot too? That’s what I’ve been prescribed xx
I’m on round 3 and just been prescribed 3 more rounds. I’m not sure what the limit is. With clomid I believe it’s 6 months so I can only assume letrozole is the same. No I didn’t have the trigger shot! X
He’s prescribed three months for me. Are you not supposed to have intercourse at all that month until they tell you. My clinic were really vague and I’m starting the letrozole tomorrow xx
I’ve tried both clomid and letrozole but neither worked for me. But that doesn’t mean it won’t for you, everyone is different, good luck 😊 x
Hi, I’ve used Letrozole, but my story is a bit different to others. I’m 38 and have unexplained infertility; I ovulate naturally, but was prescribed clomid for my IUI procedure which was unsuccessful. After having a failed fresh IVF transfer, I saw a consultant out of UK and she suggested taking Letrozole for 3 cycles and if still getting bfn going for a frozen transfer. After the 1st cycle I got pregnant, but ended in an empty sac. Gave myself 2 months break and then started the 2nd cycle; got pregnant again and am now 13 weeks. I know there is still a long long way to go, but it did work for my case. Best of luck to you xx
Oh and no trigger shot for Letrozole
I have been to a private clinic recently and they suggested me to use letrozole instead of Clomid, but only after doing some tests. I have PCOS with loads of follicles on my ovaries and very high AMH levels. Clomid works a bit for me, not as nice as it should but there is some reaction (on 150mg!). This doctor said that in this case, letrozole has higher success rates than Clomid, so it migh be good for you. The problem with my doctors here is that using letrozole in fertility issues is not licenced (only for cancer treatment), so the NHS usually is not allowed to give it unless they have a really good reason for it (what they rarely do). But I think it is the better choice, as it is also supposed to a have less side effects, also it does not induce the problem with thinnening the lining.

I forgot to add we were told to baby dance from 8dp every other day for 5 times; which makes it up to 18dp.
