Has anyone had the short protocol at Guy’s? If so, would you be able to provide a summary of the procedure please? It’s still not decided that that is the one I’ll have at Guy’s, although the consultant at the Lister recommended that it would be best for me.
Thanks so much!

Hi LR56 i went once we had a meeting with nurse she told about everything and in aug we will go to meet with dr dont know this is my first time i dont know any thing just here to read all comments
I am having my only funded cycle at Guy's ACU. I was put on short protocol early this year. It took 3 months from my initial consultation to the embryo transfer.
Once every month they have an open evening where they (consultant, embryologist & nurse) explain long and short protocols followed by Q&A session in a lecture hall, me & my spouse attended it and found it very useful.
I was on contraceptive pill for 23days the month before my stimulation (in that time I had my endo scratch on cd21 as part of a research study) during which my meds arrived. I had a baseline scan 5days after stopping the pill (expect to bleed in 2-5days) and I started my injections on cd3, continued them for another 10days (in between I had to visit clinic twice for bloods and scan), 11th day had my trigger shot, 36hrs later egg collection under sedation and 5 days later fresh embryo transfer.
I found the protocol to be quick and easy with not much side effects. They gave a print out of the schedule on when to start & stop meds plus two leaflets illustrating injection process (in addition to the nurse teaching) which was helpful.
We've had one long protocol cycle and one short protocol cycle - up at Ninewells Dundee. Short cycle definitely a lot easier for us!!! Thankfully for some reason, I've not had to go on pill or anything else prior to starting the protocol, so just went for the scan and started the injections Day 3. One of our nurses actually wrote down what to take and when between that scan and the next - helped me so much in keeping tabs on what to do!!! So much so I updated it after each scan.
