The overwhelming sense of relief I felt getting the call from our midwife, brought me to tears. After our NHS screening flagged us as high risk for both Edwards & Patau, the NIPT test (which is based on DNA) came back as low risk!!! Phew!!! 😅
Now, after 8 agonising days of waiting, we can finally commit to thoughts of our future together with our rapidly growing little bouncing baby.
You can think a lot of negative thoughts in 8 days... we had to discuss whether we wanted to know the gender if the result was bad. We talked through life prospects of children with both conditions, the horrible termination options & likelihood of natural miscarriage (and how it would be handled) for a baby of 15 weeks +
Some very dark thoughts... my heart goes out fully to the poor couples who have had to handle bad news and a firm diagnosis. 💕 💕
The silver-lining on the passing stressful cloud, was that we now know that our little bouncing bean is a little boy!!! 💙💙💙 Haha!
We just hope he doesn’t inherit too many of DH’s traits, or else we will have a right tear away on our hands 😂
So, so, so, so happy!! 🤗 Thank you to each and every one of you who have offered such heartfelt support over this past week. You are all truly beautiful humans & I wish you all the happy endings you deserve xxx
