Practicalities- transporting gonal f?

So I’ve done the first injection- it was fine(thanks for the support ladies).

But this weekend I need to go to my dads and it will be a 5hr drive. Given gonal f is a fridge item I am a little concerned! I’m thinking I’ll just put it in a insulated lunch box with a nice pack- do you think that will be ok?

Yep and you could wrap it in tin foil and newspaper too to hold the cold in

When we went away last week, I wrapped my in kitchen roll to protect it from being frozen by the ice pack and then transferred it to the fridge as soon as I arrived. I believe it has to be kept at 5c or under, so at this time of year, should be fine in a cool bag with an ice pack in the boot of your car.

I did that and it was fine. I used several ice packs and it was lovely and cool when I arrived.

Hi, I had a appt yesterday at clinic where I was shown how to use gonal f and I was told once you have opened it you can keep it out the fridge xx

There are different ways you get gonal f, some people have prefilled pens etc. Mine was a powder and solution that could be kept out of the fridge until mixed and then had to be kept in the fridge- the complete opposite to yours!!

Hi Nona84,

I had a weekend away and our clinic said once you open one and pierce the vial (attach a needle ) you can keep it out of the fridge.

I also think it says it on the patient info leaflet xx
