Long protocol timings & holidays

Hi lovelies I'm hoping someone can help me out with figuring out long protocol timings. I'm due to start next cycle, taking synarel nasal on day 18 (I have short cycles). I then have to phone the clinic on CD1. I'm am also going on holiday next weekend for 3 weeks so will be taking my spray with me. What I needs to know if whether the nasal spray delays your period or whether it just comes on time. Also, after CD1, when is the first scan. I'm wondering whether I should try and lengthen this cycle with some cyclogest to make sure my period doesn't come when I'm away. If the first appointment isn't for a few days then it won't really make a difference. Thanks x

Hi Ash2016. As periods/bleeds are no always predictable, would it not be better to delay your holiday? Just a thought. Hope all goes well with whatever you decide and enjoy your hols when it happens. Diane

Thanks Diane, I'm afraid we can't, all booked. Hadn't realised the cycle would come round so quickly. And we really need the break! I'm sure we'll figure it out x

Hi lovely

I am on the long protocol.

On the first day of the bleeding I had to call the nurse and my scan was to be booked 8-14 days after that. It’s a check up scan to start stimulation. At least that’s how it worked for me!

Thanks buisquits! Those timings should work for us!

My period was around four days late when down regulating, and slightly heavier than usual. (I’ve done long protocol three times)

No way would I personally delay it with cyclogest, you’re doing enough hormone input into your body already and you might screw up your down regulation.

Once you are down regulated they can keep you down regulated for a while before starting stims- I did an extra week on my first round due to my trial embryo transfer failing. My clinic does the first scan on day 7 after your period starts, to check if you have lost all your lining and got quiet ovaries before starting stims.

Hi I think we are with the same brand clinic for your other posts. The lister .... my period was a couple of days late but it can delay up to a couple of week I think. You have to go for baseline scans first few days of tour period and start your injections so you should inform them you will be on holiday xxxx

Thanks Jade. I had my nurses appointment this week. They said that they would scan me between day 3-6 after I get my period. They also said that there was a chance that it would be delayed. I've told them I'm going away so fingers crossed x
