Removal of a polyp on the cervix opening

I’m really nervous about having this removed, even more so that the clinic have advised no local anaesthetic is necessary. Yet on the NHS they do administer a local.

Has anyone had one removed, was it painful? TIA x

I haven’t had surgery without anaesthetic- I had a hysteroscopy over 2 years ago and because they suspected a fibroid the consultant thought it was kinder to put me under- turned out no fibroid was there in the end!!’ I suspect yours is a hysteroscopy too?

My story is long but I’ll try to keep it short as possible. Endo was found during a laparoscopy- treated conceived but miscarried. Endo symptoms returned- scan indicated lining not in uniform- fertility doctor referred me to a general gynaecologist for a hysteroscopy. I like you was given the impression that I had to have a hysteroscopy without anaesthetic- I contacted the hospital and told them I would only have the hysteroscopy unde anaesthetic- even if it was just sedation. My appointment was Monday and the consultant respected my decision- and I’m having a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy and biopsy and removal of endometriosis if found.

I like you was worried about having this procedure done without anaesthetic- the hospital were great. I was told it was my choice and if I preferred to have thd hysteroscopy with anaesthetic the consultant wouldn’t object.

Please remember this YOUR CHOICE and if you want it done under anaesthetic this is YOUR RIGHT.

Personally I would insist on anaesthetic- my consultant a few years wouldn’t do hysteroscopy and removal without anaesthetic-to me that indicates removing something would be painful.

Please do not be bullied into doing something you are not comfortable with.

Good luck xoxo

Thanks Jess, I think I better call them now to discuss. Do you have any children? I was diagnosed with Endo back in 2013! I had it removed by laser that summer, which was successful for me as I conceived a couple of months later-which sadly ended in a MC.

I tried again a couple of months after and had my son Blake who is now 2 years. I’m trying again now after another MC, but gynae suggested I have the polyp removed beforehand. Xx

I just emailed the booking central department as I didn’t have contact details of the gynae s secretary. I told them straight : unless they agreed I could have sedation at least I would cancel appointment. My fertility secretary called me to discuss it further and reassured me that it would be my decision and the consultant would be happy to arrange day surgery. It did not affect how I was treated.

The fact you’ve got endometriosis is re known for causing more pelvic pain.

For me doing any procedure like that with endo is horrible- I’d rather give birth!

I have a 19 year old son from a previous relationship.

Any procedure it is always your choice whether you need anaesthetic 😘

Sorry for your losses so sad xoxo
