Hey ladies,

Thought I would give everyone and update, I ya don’t base line scan last week and all is good

Nurse was very happy 😃. So started second lot of injection, I go back on the 9th jan to see how things are coming along. Fingers crossed we are on schedule!

But I have come down with a head cold and paracetamol are not kicking it! Can I use nose sprays? I know that may sound silly question, but I wasn’t sure.

Hope everyone is doing well xxxx

Hey :) so glad your scan went well, i have my first one soon. My nurse reassured me that even if i have a cold that the spray will still absorb. She said the tissue inside the nose absorbs it quite quickly and we only need to get about 3% from each spray. I got scabs in my nose from it being so dry and had to ring about it and nurse also said it was ok to keep going. She did recommend not sitting too long in rooms with central heating as this drys the air out and to buy a humidifier, this has helped!

The Nurse also told me i could spray twice into the same nostril, just to wait a 2-3 minutes between each spray as 1 side of my nose was worse than the other. So guess same would apply to you if one side of ur nose feels more blocked up than the other.

Can i ask do u rinse ur nasal spray horizontally under the tap before & after each use? I has been as per written instructions for use but nurse said i didnt need to and just to wipe it with a cloth so ive started doing that but feel like i should be sticking to the written instructions 🙈 xx

Hey Hun, I’m on injections not nasal spray. Sorry what I meant was nose spray to unblock my nose due to cold, I didn’t know if was safe or not.

How long are you in to treatment?

Wishing you all the luck xxx

I suffer from sinusitis and use an otc spray. I told my clinic when I started my treatment and they didn’t seem concerned. I’ve been to the doctors and he gave me a steroid nose spray which he said was safe to use during pregnancy but it doesn’t work. At no stage has the clinic or doctor told me there is a big risk using nose spray xx

Yeah that’s me ... my nose is bad my nurse said that I’m only aloud to take paracetamol. And even with washing soaps I have to use 0% soap free due to having injections? Xx

I’ve never been told to use O% soap free either. I was only told that during EC no perfumes and no heavy makeup xx

The risk is less than 0.3% so very rare. I know you’re not pregnant but we are always advised to act as if we are, within reason xx

I'm glad to hear that your scan went all well! Congratulations, you're one step closer to a baby I believe. :) IVF is a sensitive process so don't use any medication while you're on one without consulting Dr. They usually refer nasal spray. that's absolutely safe (the OTC ones) but still I'd say just talk to them about it. I didn't have the problem with cold as such during my IVF so never needed any. It's alright to ask - everyone does :D. We just wanna be sure and extra cautious when you're TTC and the extent of it is more when it involves an IVF - so feel free to ask. The forums helped me a lot back in my getting pregnant days and I'm up for doing my part to help other if I can. :) Keep me updated about your IVF ... sending baby dust! :)
