Hi, I'm getting myself in such a tizz. I have factor V Leiden and have been told to go on aspirin as soon as I become pregnant. Are there any other ladies with the same condition? Feels so lonely. X

Hi my sister had this so I had a test pre starting ivf . I didn’t have it . It’s great that they know now and can monitor it . My sister has two little girls do it didn’t affect anything , I think she just had to inject herself with something ? But if the docs know that is great as if they didn’t it can cause miscarriage. Please don’t worry or feel lonely about it as it’s easily controlled. It would be worse if they didn’t know xxx

Thank you so much. My problem is I've only been prescribed aspirin. They haven't given me injectable blood thinners. Do you know when she started the injections and did she know she'd be on the injections straight away? Had she had a previous blood clot? Sorry for bombarding you, ours just good to have someone else to talk to about the condition x

Hey she just came back to me . She had blood thinning injections from

About 6 weeks pregnant to 35 weeks . She hasn’t had a blood clot just 3 miscarriages. I thought she had only had one . She must have been tested due to miscarriages so

It’s good that they know with you now . Lots of people don’t know they have it . I would ask about injectables blood thinners x x x hope that helps

Hi Cookie I don't have Factor V Leiden but have the Prothrombin mutation which is also related to blood clots. In the past I've been prescribed Tinzaparin daily injections, a blood thinner. They are quite easy to inject but you do get the odd bruise.

Thank you. I am very concerned although the drs seem reluctant to give me blood thinners because I don't have a history of clots. Did you have to all for yours? X

I knew about the gene before trying to get pregnant but the haematologist said as I had no history of clots they wouldn't prescribe anything. It was only after I suffered a number of miscarriages that it was prescribed. I don't think the miscarriages were related to the clotting gene but due to my age, the specialist just wanted me to take the blood thinners to rule it out, if you see what I mean.
