Probably a very naïve question as a 1st time IVF gal...but dont know the answer 🙈

My clinic has advised not to have unprotected sex from day 1 of this cycle, i start nasal spray 16th Dec. I understand the issues around approaching egg retrieval with regards to days how many days hubby has to be abstinent and of course following egg collection, transfer & the 2ww however why is it not ok before this, when nasal spray doesnt start until day 21 of cycle. What about the remote possibility a natural pregnancy could occur at the last hurdle? Im mostly just curious, this whole journey hasnt exactly got me in the mood 😂 i just wanted to know why this advice is given? There is probably an obvious answer that i have completesly negated to think about 🙈

I think that’s what they worry about. If a natural pregnancy occurred and you didn’t know the stim drugs would cause problems.

Yeah they worry about a natural pregnancy, also my clinic have had a few women fall pregnant during the stimming drugs but then there body hasn’t been able to sustain the pregnancy so it’s ended in miscarriage and an abandoned cycle. Good luck x
