Need to test with GP?

Hi all, i went through IVF in hospital, the result was positive. Do i still need to book an appt with gp to double check pregnancy result as i only had urine test on hospital.

I don't think it's necessary to visit the GP only for pregnancy confirmation. If you're in a dilemma you can probably get another HPT and test all by yourself. As long as you're past 12-15 days from Embryo transfer an HPT should be able to show you an accurate result. You can even get 1or 2 extra HPTs just in case you want to check more than once to reassure yourself about the BFP. However, I'm not the one who's supposed to decide either, you've got to do that for yourself. Chances are very thin though that the result will be anything other than what the clinic has already informed. But if you think that an HPT won't be able to appease you, you may as well go visit the GP for additional reassurance. At the end of the day, it's you who needs to stay optimistic and lively throughout the gestation - so you've got to do whatever it takes for you to be less worried.

I think inform your gp and if they want you to test then do. X

I didn’t have to. I just self referred to the midwife. I wouldn’t have needed even tell the GP if I didn’t need to get my medication x

You just self refer to the midwife. The dr will be fine with the urine test and no more tests will be necessary. the next step is a booking appointment with the midwife at 10 weeks.

Is your ivf clinic not giving you a scan at 6 weeks?

Yes i have got scan after 3 weeks. I will just wait till then. I called gp they told me they can only do urine test which i have already done it .

No worries. It's very strange that with so much contact with the fertility clinic you kind of get dumped on your own for weeks when transferring to the midwife. But it all ramps up after 30 weeks.
