First scan - 14 follicles

Hello,

I had my ultrasound done on Tuesday; 8 follicles on my right ovary and 6 on the left one. Is that a reasonable number?

I was told to go back at the end of September for an injection lesson. And if the consultant decides to put me on the short protocol (God knows why) they would call me before the injection training! Hmmmm ...

This seems good to me! Try not to worry. Once stimming starts more appear and I think the average is 14 eggs at collection. It's more about the quality than quantity x

Thanks Claire; you are totally right. Quality is the most important factor. Hope you are doing fine and enjoying every minute 🌹xx

Hi Sherry07. That sounds fine to me. You're looking at around 15 in total, so yours is not a bad score at all, and hopefully shows you should stimulate well. Good luck! Diane

Hi Diane I am not having my first scan until a week after injections. Should I be having a scan before starting?

Hi Scarlett13. That's about right. The scan "Sherry07" has just had is really a baseline one to see how easy or difficult it will be to stimulate her ovaries. She will have one about a week after starting stims too, just like you. Diane

Hi Scarlett13. Try not to worry about this, as that is the norm. Not all clinics perform a follicle count beforehand, and yours will adjust medication if necessary after your first can about a week into stimulation. Diane

I won't have my first scan until a week after injections - how come you have had yours early? X

I had an initial one before the injection lesson. I guess it helps them to find out about what drugs and which doses to use x

Hi Sherry07. Yes, that's exactly it. Not all clinics do this though, but all scan you around a week into stimulation so that any adjustments can be made to the dosage if necessary. Diane
