I've been through so much in a year! Surgeries, scans, blood tests, procedures, tear soaked pillows, and as I'm about to have one more surgery before starting ivf, I'm feeling surprised at how grounded and positive I'm currently feeling. After the initial shock and heartache of finding out I'll never conceive naturally, I've now got my head and body around the issues I face and know that ivf is now my next stage in the journey to hopefully one day meet my baby xxx

Hi Scarlett13. I hope you don't mind but have back tracked a bit, so as to explain your treatment protocol for you. Please you had the "stitch" inserted to give that extra support through a pregnancy. The Metformin has been prescribed to help with the next stage of your antagonist cycle. The aim of using an antagonist is that by not suppressing (down regulating) your ovaries with nasal spray, the stimulation injections work with your own hormones and then the antagonist just stops you ovulating before egg collection. The benefit of using this type of drug is that an antagonist cycle means all the drugs are usually given within a 2 week period of time so it ends up as a shorter process. I hope I haven't confused you further, and obviously wish you huge success with it all. Diane

Thanks Diane, that's really helpful, thanks for reading back and taking the time to explain. I have the TAC stitch done on Tuesday, then once healed, I'll be getting started on ivf. So I guess the metformin somehow helps to lessen my chances of OHSS?
