Oh dear Fatooli28. Bet you fall asleep when it's time to get up! Always happens! Sending you a lullaby for tonight. Diane xx

Hello, I'm now 13wks2d pregnant with one bubba and have had insomnia since about week 6. I can get to sleep ok but wake up 2-3 times a night (and not always to use the toilet!) I struggle to get back to sleep and there's been many a night where it's 3am and that's me done til morning....only for me to want to fall asleep 30min before my alarm! I've tried various methods from acupuncture, herbal tea, no screen time, no tv, warm baths, Horlicks...nothing seemed to help. I've spent most of my 1st trimester in a different bed to my dh so as not to disturb him with my tossing and turning....

Now 2 things I have recently found that helped are,

1. My friend told me not to fight it...she said when u find yourself stressing about not sleeping read a book, do a chore for 20-30min to take ur mind off it

2. Write down any thoughts that are going through your head

3. If you haven't already, invest in an awesome body pillow (mines 12ft long and I'm in love with it!)

Since starting these things last week, yes I still wake up but I'm back to sleep within 15-20 mins and managing to sleep in til 6.15 nearly everyday!

Not sure if any of this will help as I understand for you, you can't get to sleep in the first place...but it's worth a try!

Thank you SO much for this! This is exactly what has been happening to me and it is very wearing after a while. Appreciate the good suggestions on how to work with it and not fight it xxx

I'm so glad it's not just me! (Although poor you!) Its exhausting isn't it?! Xxx

I am 17wk 2days and also fall asleep easily but wake around 3am and then can't get back to sleep, I ending up reading or googling lol. Oakey80 i have been looking at body pillows so I may invest in one, I have also been in the spare room a lot so I don't wake my hubby up xxx

With the big pillow I found it was trial and error for a couple of nights to get it exactly how I want it...but now it's lush (although my dh says it's like sleeping next to a pillow more than me nowadays!...I said he's lucky he's now in the bed ha! πŸ˜…)...I got mine off a well known selling site for about Β£20 incl. pillow case...they can go for much more...and it's perfectly fine xxx

Aldi had v shape pillows for about 6 quid as a special last week. I use that to prop me up a bit and a couple of spare pillows around the bump if needed.

I cannot keep my eyes open at 5pm and i either can't sleep till 2am or I'm up at 3am. Heard this is what the third trimester brings!

Thank you thank you thank you! I have a great pillow I'm just not sleepy which is what I hate most and yes found myself sorting through my jewellery at 3:45am this morning and still wasn't sleepy. Need to find my sleep Lavender spray. I eat apples 🍎 I have milk and nothing has helped. Today I have real instense lower pain and pressure... rest rest rest....hoping they stay inside and it's not an early sign. My baby girl feels like she is really low so again it could just be pressure but it's the first time I ever experience anything like this so hoping for the best x

I was exactly the same. From a few days post transfer all the way through pregnancy. I kept being told it would go in the second trimester and I think it got a little better but didn't go completely. My midwife said it's the body's way of preparing you for sleepless nights when baby finally arrives. I used to wake up at 2 or 3 and then be awake until 5 or 6 when I'd finally go back to sleep for an hr or 2. I got used to it after a while and wasn't quite as tired as when it first started happening. The body pillow was one of the best investments I made - especially in the third trimester it was a godsend. Took me a while to get comfy with it and as I got bigger kept having to change how I used it but so worth it!

Omg I got a pregnancy pillow, only had it one night it's amazing so comfy was only cheap off amazon aswell πŸ‘πŸΌ
