I came across book the other day and was considering buying it but just wanted to know if any of you lovely ladies had read it....it's called Dare to Dream by Izzy Judd and it's about her experience with TTC and going through IVF. I was tempted to give it a go but just wanted to know if it was any good?
Dare to Dream: I came across book the... - Fertility Network UK
Dare to Dream
I've read it and it's ok bit slow to read. It doesn't seem to have much about the IVF it's more about family stuff and how she met Harry. I wish I hadn't bought it and borrowed from the library xx
It is a good read definitely worth a try i found some parts really relatable and others not so much but each to their own I guess. Only thing re the IVF is that they were in the fortunate position they could pay privately and had their pick of clinic for us normal folk half the struggle of IVF is dealing with the NHS! Another book worth a try is His and Hers Survival Guide to IVF its written by a couple who went through IVF and it's really down to earth and funny much more relatable x
Now that is a brill book x
I just finished reading it this evening. I found it an easy read but I didn't really warm to Izzy, mainly because the cost of ivf was in no way a barrier to her as it is to us. She had private health care from the start and seemed to always be going on holidays or joining the band in Australia for a month etc etc. It sounds like jealousy and it's not her fault and she doesn't brag about it at all, i guess I just felt that her story was in no way mine.
I really felt for her when she talked of her struggles but couldn't help feeling miffed that she wasn't juggling a full time job, coping with asking time off from employers, dealing with the financial pressures, instead being able to have 6months just to concentrate on herself, eat well, exercise and meditate....ok, I was jealous about that!
It talks a lot about her anxiety and background before ivf and there are definitely moments you can identify yourself in the 'story'. I also liked the bit at the end where Harry gives his side of it all. It's good to hear something of how the man copes and I'm considering getting my OH to read that bit as he's not great at communicating his feelings.
I agree with others, I've read it and found some parts really relatable and others I kind of skimmed through. I think for me part of her journey just wasn't like 'real' life - most people can't just give up work and concentrate solely on getting themselves ready, would be amazing if we could x
