We have been told that my Partner has azoospermia and they cannot fund ICIS on the NHS because the success is very unlikely. Has anyone got a success story who has been in the same position?

Azoospermia (no sperm)
It depends on azoospermia types. I don't know the details, but a friend of mine who is the same situation contacted Polish top ivf clinic in Gdansk. From what I know they are starting their treatment at the clinic soon. Do yr research in-depth. Good luck
Hi yes we were the same. The proceure is called surgical sperm retrevial ssr. . I had never heard of it nor even thought it was possible. . Ours was successful and my little boy is 19 months. It's available on the nhs. We ended up private at care Manchester due to my vvv low amh. I got refused treatment based on my low amh..
Hi. My partner was diagnosed with the same but our clinic booked him in for a test procedure and managed to retrieve 4 vials using the surgical method of PESA. This was on the NHS. They did this in April and I am currently on day 10 of downregulation, a long wait but hopefully all be worth it in the end. Good luck!!
Hello!
Azoospermia is such a difficult diagnosis but as someone else has mentioned there are different levels of it. The test to try is Surgical Sperm Retrieval as you may be able to have children that are biologically your partner's this way. Unfortunately for us we learnt through SSR that my husband does not produce sperm and so we are soon to start our first cycle of ICSI with donor sperm. We are NHS funded here in Cambridgeshire but i understand that it's a real postcode lottery which is utterly heart breaking. Definitely worth finding out exactly what you're entitled to treatment wise and if you're anywhere near Cambridgeshire Mr Oliver Wiseman is the most amazing consultant I've ever met and the only one that made us feel like humans in this whole process. Even if you're not nearby he's done some videos on YouTube talking about male infertility that may be of some interest. I've started to ramble a bit but I hope there's a little hope/information I'm here!
Thank you for all your responses. I can't believe it is down to postcode that is so unfair. He has non obstructive and high FSH levels. He had undecended testicals as a child and was corrected until 10yrs old. Is it best to get treatment abroad? Is it cheaper? Better success rates?
I would check what clinics are available to your ccg and see the criteria for those before you go private
If you go private then look at your clinics in your area. Contact them. .go to open evenings. .see what you think. .check out prices etc
I would recommend mr Jonathon Ramsey Hammersmith London he's the only doctor in uk that dos the fna mapping ,for some one in our situation with maturation arrest he gave chlomid and menupur for last year ,partner just had fna mapping will get results in 6 weeks pray that it's good news for once
