DNA sperm fragmentation

Hi all - we've just had my partner's DNA sperm fragmentation results back and it's 39%.

We've previously used ICSI because he also has a presence of antibodies, source unknown. We've done a sperm culture and not found an infection.

Our clinic is suggested swim-up to get around using the more damaged sperm.

Nyone have any experience of a partner with above normal SDF and success? I'm 40 so there's not a huge chance my egg quality can overcome poor sperm quality, but I'll try!

Thanks so much!

Very easy solution is to make shorter the absencie to 24-12 hours prior to collection. We did 12 hours and the results were impressing. The point is to shorten the oxidation stress of the sperms.

PIMSI is better than icsi but also IMSI is much better.

Has he been checked for varacoceal? That can cause high fragmentation. Impryl supplement was recommended to us for help with high fragmentation. There is a really good documentary called "save our sperm" that is worth watching together for ways to help with high frag and sperm quality x

I've just turned 41 and my 37yo partner also has 39% dna fragmentation. We have done 4 rounds and no success. First round was full fertilisation failure as ICSI wasn't used. Would be interested in knowing who has else has gone through this.

It might be worth seeing a urologist to get some advice. Our issue was male factor, low count, but we found beyond recommending ICSI and Impryl supplements, the IVF clinics didn’t seem to know much more about male infertility. Our clinic recommended a DNA fragmentation test and said if this came back with poor results we could use a Zymot, but you needed at least 100,000 sperm to use a Zymot and our highest count was 5000 which wasn’t even enough to do the DNA fragmentation testing in the first place. Things my husband did to improve his sperm was cut out alcohol and caffeine, use a cooling pad daily, cut down on sugar and take Impryl. I would also recommend the save our sperm documentary.
