Cycle Buddy - September/October 2017

Hi All,

Started my first cycle of IVF yesterday (first Bemfola injection, already down regged). Just wondering if there is anyone out there who wants to be a cycle buddy?

Hey im on my first round too, have been down regging for two weeks, first stim inj tomorow, egg collection 12th Oct, think we could be similar times x

Oh wow, did you sniff or inject for D/R? How can they tell you your egg collection date so early? I went for my baseline scan yesterday, which is when they told me I could start stimms last night (as well as continue to D/R but on a lower dose which I didn't expect). I have another scan booked for next Wednesday (5th) and they will then see if I can do the trigger shot or come back for more scans. Would love to know my EC date so I can sort out time off work etc.

How did you find D/R? I got awful headaches :-(.

I did Buserelin inj for down regulation they aren't too bad have felt a little dizzy and headachey too, not looking forward to going onto two jabs a day tomorrow, yes i'm the same i have to continue with the D/R but lower the dose. They gave me a schedule when we started with all the dates of scans and collection but said they could change depending on how I responded to the drugs, had my baseline scan yesterday as well and everything was quiet, thin linning so all ready to carry on, got my next scan on the 5th as well! what a coincidence not planning to do my trigger shot that early tho apparently I gotta have another scan on the 7th then trigger on the 10th if everything's going well, such similar timings tho!

Yes what a coincidence, I was thinking, seeing as my scan was yesterday and they transferred me straight over to stimms, that I would go next Wednesday and be told to do the trigger that night and have EC Friday but I know that's a bit optimistic! This is the thing it completely takes over your life (or it does mine) and gives me too much thinking time!

Yeah might be a bit optomistic but i guess it depends how you respond if not u cld be going for EC more around when I am, I hope everything goes as theyve planned as ive booked the time off work. Yes it deff has took over a lot its almost all i think and worry about all the time, also have to think well if we go to a friends this night then how can i take my jab with me? hehe its a bit annoying just keep hoping its all worth it in the end! how long have u been trying if u dont mind me asking?

Suppose another few days isn't much in the scheme of things really, just me being impatient!

I can completely agree with you, its all I talk about at home and look up at work all day!

Of course I don't mind you asking. We were trying for around 3 years, but I EP with previous partner around 10 years ago which was a bit scary and had to have tube removed, then only last year did doctor decide to tell me that other tube should probably be removed to give us more of chance when doing IVF, so I went private to get it done quicker. What about you? x

haha yes im sure people probably get sick of me talking about it mainly my poor DH but he doesnt get a choice! does seem such a long process doesnt it but deff teaches patience sometimes I dont know how I cope probably just reading posts all day like you tbh.

yikes EP thats so scary and im so sorry must have been tough to go through. We have been trying for over 7yrs now tried chlomid and although it worked nothing happened then told IVF only real option but had to wait as needed to lose four stone to get referred so that took a while but here we are nearly there now!

Hi I'm due to start next month and have a few questions, hope you don't mind me invading your post! Did either of you start with the pill?! I'm on the long protocol and been given a prescription for the pill but I'm so confused as my cycle is like clockwork!! X

Hi BabyD, of course, that's fine

I wasn't on the pill, and not given it, although I have heard some people have it to regulate cycle, so seems strange its been given to you (but I am by no means an expert) and I am the same as you - regular as clockwork. Did the ACU prescribe this to you?

Hey thats ok welcome! i am on long protocol too was started on the pill on day 2 of my cycle, took it for a month before starting D/R inj, my cycle is also pretty regular i think its mainly for the clinic to be able to schedule everything such as egg collection without relying on nature too much. How long will you be taking the pill for? I found it seemed like ages long protocol sure is a good name for it.

Thank you both for your replies!! My prescription for the pill is for two weeks (even more strange!!) - the consultant prescribed it to me yesterday and the next step is to go in to the clinic on day 1 of my cycle for a blood test (should be next week). I have my egg retrieval date already (end of November) but I have no idea when I will be told to take the pill, when I will start injections etc...?! Xx

I think its amazing how they have given you both your dates, I just go from one appointment to the next not knowing what to expect! So you wont be far behind us xx

Two weeks seems short they must be using it as a start to D/R but maybe you start it at a diff point in ur cycle, seems strange you have ur EC date but no info on when to start the pill maybe just ask the clinic if its bothering you, I know I emailed mine a few times with queries they didnt seem to mind anything to put ur mind at ease all this is stressful enough.

I agree I called mine last week as AF was late and was concerned it would delay things or still be there when I went for scan yesterday and they really didn't mind at all

When I phone they pretty much tell me to calm down and just wait until my appointment, not helpful at all! That's when I found this group. This whole thing is stressful enough without feeling like I'm not entitled to ask any questions. But I'm just waiting until I start my period so that I can have my appointment with the nurse and then go from there.... :/ xx

Love having cycle buddies it defo helps. My first cycle was a bfn, second cycle was a chemical Pregnancy so really hoping its 3rd time lucky X

I've heard the term before but do you mind telling me what a chemical pregnancy is (sorry if I sound really stupid)!

Oh me please. I will happily be your cycle buddy. I started my first round of injections last week and in for a scan on Friday..starting to get very nervous 😀sending folicly luck your way xx

Hi, how you finding injections? Are you suffering from any side effects? I've been getting quite bad headaches all through DR and hoping they ease off now my dose had lowered.

At first I was so nervous as was my husband but he is doing a great job. Found this morning very sore but just relaxing now. I mainly feel exhausted and get occasional headaches.

When we got nasal spray we both giggled as had to take it 4 times a day once at 11pm and we were both like no way we gonna be up at 11pm😆. Nerves kicking in for tomorrow and trying not to get my hopes up in case sent home with more injections but at least we are getting nearer. Of course I will keep you posted..thanks for support. How are you feeling? When are you next in? Xx

Ha ha I wouldn't of made 11pm sniff! I did injections to dr so only one injection a day which sounds a bit easier!

I've just constantly got a headache pretty much (do suffer with migraines and had to stop taking medication before starting treatment so this probably doesn't help). Other than that I'm ok, bit moody maybe 🙈! I'm next in on Wednesday and hoping to be given the ok to do trigger but think that may be a bit optimistic! Xx
