Hi BabyHope! That's exciting and worrying all at once for me because the egg collection procedure itself is totally fine, I've always had 'conscious sedation' but there's nothing conscious about it, it's nice coming round and getting tea and biscuits! You may have a little bloating type discomfort but I've never had a problem with this, just a bit over the days after so take it easy. Everyone is different though and some get OHSS but they should go through that with you.

The worst bit about egg collection for me is waiting to find out how many they collected (though you'll know that soon after op) how many have matured and how many have fertilised. But remember it only takes one. Good luck!!! Let us know how you got on xxx

Agree with previous post that the procedure itself is nothing to worry about because they put you under for it! My hubby was there so it was really nice to wake up and he was there and all was finished. The good thing is you don't need to do any more injecting and once the op is over the number and quality is up to the "Gods" as it were - it's out of your hands. That said it feels tense waiting to hear how many you've got and how they develop. But as another poster said, it really does only take one good one. Try to do nice things for yourself and plan activities that will take your mind off things : ) Good luck!

I'm 39 closer to 40 yo & had EC yesterday. I was expecting them to say they only got 6 eggs as my scans showed too many small ones & in view of my age but on the day they got 16 & 12 are fertilising as we speak!!! I was dreading it but it was fine compared to other tests I've had. I was conscious but sedated so I felt relaxed. I asked for some more sedation at one point which they gave me. They were great at making sure you are comfortable. Would do it again tomorrow if I had too, please don't worry. Best of luck to you xx

Hello! The op is nothing to worry about and you will be fine! I was lucky enough to get pregnant on my first Ivf cycle, currently 22 weeks pregnant with a baby girl! I didn't have any issues but my partner had very lazy sperm so we will never be able to conceive naturally.

One of the things I think it helped me with the success is relaxation. Even before the op I will try to do small relaxation before going to bed. Before I had the op, I closed my eyes and thought of nothing, just focus on your breathing. Your body will be calm and ready. I did exactly the same when they put the embryo back. I closed my eyes and relaxed. I read that it's very important for your body to be relaxed when they put it back so your muscle don't contract. The contraction might lead to rejection.

I also kept s very positive attitude, I know it's easier said that done but I always thought, this is the closest I will ever be to being pregnant.

When they put the embryo, I thought you are now pregnant, enjoy every minute.

I wish you all the best lovely ladies , please keep the energy up because it will be worth it. We are stronger than we think.

Xxxx

Good luck baby hope, my egg collection was last Monday, I got there 20min late as I got the time wrong not a very good start, if you're doing it at Kingston hospital beware of the grumpy old lady in the inside waiting room, as my husband called her miserable cow, the rest of the team are really nice and friendly.

Waking up is challenging, I started rambling about how good that drug was describing it legal high and about my husband taking me to Zanzibar after all this before the I wish my mom was here and cry.

But all ended up with 10 eggs that I was very stratified and proud of.

The pain was horrible as I had 32 follicles and they had to take them all.

Good luck again.
