Hi sophia depends on which protocol you are on...short 1 starts on day 1 of ur cycle and you can test after 4 weeks and the long u start on day 21 of your cycle and run into the next cycle meaning you carnt test till the end of that cycle so that makes it around 6 weeks, im not sure about the pain relief as im in the same boat as you but it seems drinking plenty of water the whole way through works wonders xx
The length of time depends on what protocol your doctor puts you on. I was on the long protocol. In terms of pain relief, what do you think you will need it for hun?! Try not to worry about it and get yourself worked up, your not really in any pain at all. The only time your abit uncomfortable is after egg collection but I wouldnt say it was painful as such. Just book adequate time off work and rest as much as you can. Also drink plenty of water all the way through.
I never in a million years thought I was going to be able to do this, especially injecting myself but it really doesnt hurt at all, once you get the first one done they are a doddle.
I am 11 weeks 4 days pregnant now so just stay positive and always remember why you are doing it. I hope all your dreams come true like mine have. Sending you lots of courage and baby thoughts xx good luck hun x
Hi as the other ladies have said it can be different time frames depending on what protocol ur on and how well u respond at the stimulation phase.
It can be very scary but once we got started I felt much more positive as we were doing something that could work for us.
In terms of pain relief you can take paracetamol if required but I don't think ibuprofen is recommended. I have painful endometriosis and took paracetamol throughout the process until the embryo had been transferred. I also used a warm hot water bottle every night throughout until embryo transfer day. This was particularly good after the eggs were retrieved as I had some mild cramping but nothing bad at all.
I'm one of the lucky ones and became pregnant on our first cycle, I'm now 27 weeks.
Stay positive and take care of yourself during the process. This forum is great and so many going through IVF can help with advice or give support. Good luck xx
