Ahh so stressed.

I'm am so stressed. Our clinic did not tell us how much the drugs cost. So we're told to estimate paying £1600. But I asked the clinic today how much they would be and they have said £800. Now we don't have enough money to start at the end of this month. All depends on when my period starts. Is this correct. I am extremely stressed and worried now. And don't know what to do. Sorry for rant. Xx

Can you get a quote from Asda piglet? Mine were. £300 cheaper from there. Xx

Thank you for replying. How do you do that? Can it be done online as we don't have a asda near us. And will the clinic mind. I don't know the ins and out of paying for private treatment. Xxx

For me I didn't have to pay at the time. I got the drugs and the hospital invoiced me about a month later, and I had 2 weeks to pay. Check on this as it might help!

Thank you. Will check. I might try and argue that we will have to owe it as we were not quoted for this. Just am panicking now. X

You have to ask the clinic to give you a full prescription and then just take it to Asda for a quote, or maybe call your closest store to see if it can be done online. It's defo worth a shot Hun xx

Thank you. Will definitely ask. Once I have calmed down a bit. It does sound worth it. Xxxx

I was called asda and told them what I needed, they told me how much and just said to go into my local store. The lady was really helpful on the phone x

I got quotes from the clinic and 2 leading supermarkets and a local pharmacy, in the end the clinic was cheaper and also allowed us to buy drugs as needed as we didn't have to pay for it all at once, also if we needed more they had them in stock. My drugs cost about £1000. You can buy the drugs from any pharmacy you aren't tied to the clinic.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Hello thanks for all replying. I have talked again with hubby. And we will either just go with paying it. Or argue that we never were told this. And so therefore we can only pay what we have got. And owe the rest. As time is against us as I'm due any day now. Zx

Makes me so cross how much the meds are on top of the treatment. It's so unfair

Hopefully you'll be able to source them cheaper as the others have suggested. Hope so. All the best for this attempt piglet. SO hope it works for you. Xx

Hello. But that has just reminded me to check my left overs. To see if I have any left. But i Doubt that there ok now. I am just so cross that they did not tell us this so we were told we aim for £1600 which we had. Then had to pay £300 for bloods. I really am fuming. I'm sorry you can't have anymore goes. :( xx

they definitely should have warned you or advised you of the extra costs. So bad &, they assume we know every little thing about IVF, but we still need guidance even if we have been through it don't we

I had to have 400mg twice a day too. So I had to put two in morning and night. I've just counted them up. I have 48 pessaries left. So 4 a day works out as 12 days worth, so not that many really.

Yeah absolutely gutted the embryo didn't even implant this time. At least in Oct it did. Can't get my head around much the moment :(

trying to get some counselling as I do need specialist help to just get help in knowing HOW to deal with the sadness, emotions and facing a future without children. But as I had my treatment privately in Spain the local clinic here say I can't see their counsellor through the NHS!! Crazy innit. So gotta fork out for that too.

Anyway take care,

Xx

Just a thought. Check with yr GP too, For a private prescription. They can't do NHS prescription if yr privately for your IVF I don't think. But worth asking.... Especially for the pessaries. I got all my meds from the London Independent dispensary via post (my doctors surgery weren't allowed to prescribe the down reg injection - I had different meds as used donor egg) but he did say at a later date he could prescribe the pessaries and he gave me a price of £8.95 per box for the 200mg and £12.96 per box for 400mg. He said there would also be a dispensing fee, of around £5. Annoying actually cos I paid £18.99 per box from the independent dispensary. And don't forget when the treatment works and yr pregnant you get free NHS preparations. So don't over order up to your test date, so you can then go to yr GP and say I'm pregnant and need some pessaries. My doctor said that would be ok anyway

Hello thought I would update. Have finally sorted out the issue of them trying to charge me £800 pounds for medication. And hey quoted me wrong. And it will only be a about £300 which we can do. I'm so glad we contested it and not just accepted it. thank you all for listening. :) xxx
