Conflicting info please help.....

Hi

I had a lap which confirmed endometriosis. I was advised I also have one blocked tube. I have been told that IVF maybe likely in the future if we have not had any success with pregnancy, which so far we have not.

I went back to the doctors today concerned about my increased pain levels and no signs of pregnancy to see what could be done next.

I had been told by other g.ps I have seen, the consultant and numerous members on here that they would investigate the cause of the blocked tube when we were ready for a baby and before IVF would be considered as well as treatment for the tube which may cause pain.

The g.p today told me as long as one is working they won't do anything else. I'm just confused what treatment I can actually receive and if it is correct that that's it now. I have a blocked tube and that will just be left?!

I have been told that a blocked tube may leak harmful fluid which can affect fertility and chances of IVF working, is this true?

Any advice would be appreciated or similar stories which may clarify a few things for me.

Thanks x

Hello. Im sorry your having all his trouble. However they should do something about your blocked tube before Ivf is even considered. As yes the leaking fluid can be harmful the the embryo and therefore stopping to working and also if you do get pregnant harm the baby. Normally they to remove the affected tube before ivf is considered so I would ask for a second opinion hun. And fight for it to be removed. do you have a consultant of your own yet? If you do speak to them about if not a different doctor. Hope this helps. ️Xx wishing you all the luck. Lots of love. ️Xx

Thanks for your reply.

This is what I thought! I was quite taken back when he said they wont do anything. I have got an appointment with a different G.P so hopefully she'll refer me back to the consultant. I was with a doctor but after mt lap they referred me back to my G.P.

Do you see the consultant regularly or are you referred each time you need them?

Thanks for your well wishes. Fingers crossed we get some help from the next doctor. X x

I 'think' you only run a risk if it's a hystosalpinx, ie if it's filled with fluid already. i would've thought they'd have removed/clipped with the lap if they considered it an issue. Can you talk with the doctor who did the lap? Not sure why you have the pain; you don't say when your lap was. An US can check the tube though. If it looks ok it may be from endo? I'd also ask for swabs for bacterial infections though, in case this caused the blocked tube (mycoplasma, ureaplasma). You can have AB for these.

Hi

Thanks for your information.

They didn't say much about it other than it's blocked. I'm trying to get referred back to discuss it more, which is why I went to the GP. He just seemed to be reluctant to refer me back. I have an appointment with a different GP so hopefully we'll have more luck with her.

My lap was only in May but the pain has returned worse than before the lap. I will mention this info.

Thanks for your help x

Unfortunately (as is often the case with NHS) you may need to be pushy and demand referral. I often ended up going privately to avoid delays and get answers/diagnoses sooner. Good luck.
