Hey, me and my husband are starting IVF next month and I'm terrified. Dose anyone have any advice for me?
Take things one step at a time. Have a nice treat ready for after you do your medication. The injections are scary to start with but soon become easy. Relaxing baths & lots of positive thinking.

The thought of it is much worse than the reality. Once you get over the hurdle of the first injection you'll be fine. They really aren't bad - the needle is tiny. I felt more in control once I got started as I felt like I was doing something positive towards my goal. Good luck!
I started my first cycle in December and apart from some insomnia which has eased off now I haven't had any problems. The first injection is a bit daunting then after that it just becomes a little routine. Don't worry you will be fine and don't be afraid to ask the nurses any questions or raise any concerns as they are usually really helpful and putting your mind at rest. Good luck
How long did you have to wait before starting your injections from your referral? I've got my appointment this afternoon and am so curious as to how my experience with IVF will pan out. It's exciting and nerve racking isn't it?? x
For me it took around 6 months after our first appointment with consultant at the fertility clinic. Gp referred us in Feb and first appointment was in July. I was told in July that waiting list would mean I wouldn't start till April 2014. But due to turning 40 in Jan they managed to squeeze me in to start in Dec so I would get 1free cycle. If I was younger I would be entitled to 3 NHS funded cycles. If this one doesn't work then will do 2 further NHS self funded cycles which are a bit cheaper then private. So we have been lucky as hospital really good and seem to have a genuine caring side as have read so awful unfair stories on this forum and others.

Well my understanding is that Nhs self funding is being treated in a NHS hospital clinic but paying for the meds and consultants time. Scans blood test etc free. It's offered at the homerton we're im being treated. The criteria is wider up to the age of 43 and higher BMI. Not cheap but cheaper then private by about 2k.

I'm actually enjoying it so far! Feel like I'm in control of things after being out of control for so long. Injections are fine, no pain, just a few nerves before the first one. I'm starting stims tomorrow so that will be two injections and I'm looking forward to it as it means we're moving forward. Good luck with it all and thing about the objective x
