Sensitive - hoping for some reassurance

hi all, hoping for a bit of reassurance. I am 5w3d and have started spotting, very very faint and when I wipe. I’m having period like cramps, and I am convinced my tests have stopped getting darker. I did have a wave of nausea today and my boobs still hurt a little. I’m just wondering if this spotting is early sign of miscarriage or does anyone have any positive stories they can share? X

Hello lovely,

I don’t think those tests can actually get any darker so please try not to worry. Spotting is ok at this stage xx

Thank you - I think because I have cramping too (not had period type cramps like this yet) I’m just fearing the worst. Fingers crossed xx

For me cramps were a good sign but I know they are worrying.

Unless you get red bleeding I would assume they are just pregnancy symptoms xx

Hi Elsidee87, I had alot of cramping at your stage, and the sort of spotting you are describing at 7 weeks. All totally fine. The cramps are very normal although very disconcerting, and nobody seems to mention them! I was told the spotting seemed to be cervical irritation. Fingers crossed all is OK for you too x

Thank you willowpark for the reassurance. Mine yesterday was like a light stabbing pinching pain really really low down. The spotting was a bit heavier today hit no cramps - it’s a light watery brown discharge. Still having pregnancy symptoms so hoping it’s just normal for me xx

Yep - I had proper period cramps, stabbing, pinching and like a pulling feeling across my abdomen. Sometimes they were sharp (I doubled over a few times) and those were really low and others it was just a weird dull feeling I couldn't quite describe across the whole area. That all calmed down by about 8 weeks, although my bleeding only lasted two days or so at a time. I was told to call in if it became red period-like bleeding but that it was unlikely it would, and it never did. I have heard of ladies getting the bleeding from the pessaries and having it continuously for the first few weeks. It might be worth getting your HCG levels measured and checked for any infection at your GP if you are really worried.

Thank you ❤️ I’ve been referred to the EPU for a scan, just to rule out ectopic. Fingers crossed. Im not taking any progesterone as this happened to be a natural pregnancy after 3 failed rounds of ivf. Which I still can’t quite believe.
