Hlw ladies, I had 3 frozen embryos left in the freezer. My embryos were not tested before by PGT testing. Anyone know about that, after frozen, embryos PGT testing can be done or not? What is the outcome if I do PGT testing after frozen? In my clinic, they did not recommend PGT testing before.. Now I found PGT testing is beneficial.. Anyone know about that?

Hi. I’m no expert, but I think that it might be possible to carry out PGTA testing on frozen embryos. I think the embryos would have to be thawed before the cells could be extracted and sent for testing; and then frozen again while you wait for the results. If they turned out to be Euploids, you would then need to thaw them again before transfer. That’s a lot of thawing and freezing, so you should check the potential risks with your embryologists. I was 44 when I carried out my 2 IVF cycles, so it was personally important to me to do PGTA testing (my clinic carried out the testing before freezing the embryos). 90% of eggs are abnormal at my age, and I didn’t have time to waste constantly transferring non-viable embryos. Good luck x

Unfortunately all 5 embryos that I sent for PGTA testing came back abnormal, so I never got to do a transfer with my own eggs. I took the tough decision to cut my losses and have moved over to donor eggs now.

yes you can definitely test frozen embryos. Sometimes it’s even beneficial for them as they thaw, let them expand, then biopsy and freeze again. So they get a days extra growth before they are returned to your uterus xx

Hi, I had 4 frozen embryos, 2 were thawed, given a day to expand and then sent for PGTA testing. I spoke to the embryologist from my clinic who was lovely, answered my questions and gave me a lot of reassurance. Could you speak to the embryologist at your clinic?

Thanks a lot. But my embryologist did not agree for PGT. Before frozen, I asked them for PGT testing. But they refused. I had miscarriage with one non tested embryo. I have 3 more left. Thats why I am thinking to do PGT for now.
