In a routine appointment my consultant spotted ectopic beats in my baby. Some extra beats and some skipped ones, at 25 weeks.
We saw a fetal cardiologist who said nothing is wrong with the structure of the heart so the cause is unknown and it normally happens later on from 28 weeks when babies are squeezed for space.
I need weekly monitoring to check on the heartbeat and make sure it stays within range.
I suppose I’m looking to see if any of you experienced it and at which stage, with a positive outcome?
thanks x
UPDATE 31/01/24 in case anyone searches and finds for reference the ectopic beats disappeared at 27 weeks! I know it’s scary but sometimes we need to trust that these babies are strong and want to come out and meet us just as much as we want to meet them x

Hi. Yes, I’ve seen this when baby is stretching. If baby’s heart rate is ok, hopefully all will be well. You’re obviously getting good care which is good to know. Diane
hi! My daughter had this and I too had weekly monitoring! when she was born they did an ecg to check everything and she was perfect never had any problems since she is now 5. I was told more than likely they disappear after birth and it’s usually nothing to worry about xx
Hi lianm8 thank you so much for the response. Could I ask you at how many weeks you had this and if later than 25, did you get check ups at around 25 weeks? Thank you x
