Sick relatives visiting!

Is anyone stressed about xmas socialising?

My auntie's household has covid so we are not seeing them this xmas.

But I have another relative that is coming today who said she has an awful dose of something!!

We are staying with other relatives so I feel I have no control over the situation...even if it is not covid I don't want to get flu or a cold....I am vaccinated fully, but had covid already with my vaccination and it wasn't pleasant.

I am 27 weeks pregnant....

Anyone else going through this at this time?

Hey Eb, my sister and her family have all had a chest infection virus thing for nearly three weeks and are all still really rough and they are still coming. My Dad had a chest infection and he is still coming, and my mother in law has the start of a streaming cold and she is still coming! I am hosting but I figure I can’t turn anyone away at Christmas but I am a nervous wreck about it and feel like I would stay at home if I was them! I am now just resigned to being sick in some description straight after! I’ve tried talking to my OH about it but he just says ‘you could catch something in the supermarket’ and dismisses it! I guess he is right but I’m still dreading it! 12 people coming and 8 are currently ill 😷 x

Oh Daisy - that sounds so stressful! I do agree we are going to come across viruses everywhere we go....but it is so hard when we know we are coming into contact with someone sick.

I spent this evening with a mask on with the relative that came - it was hard, but just felt better looking back thinking I did!

Best of luck with hosting! Hope the 8 sick people make a good recovery between now and xmas day!

hi, I’d be equally stressed out! My sis-in-law is flying in on xmas eve and i feel like she’s going to bring something from the plane 🤦‍♀️

I wanted to ask - you said you had covid from the vaccine? I had my vaccine last Sunday and am on day 5 of feeling awful. I didn’t know if it could be from the vaccine or if I’d caught a cold. Was yours vaccine-induced?

Hi no - I had contact with someone with covid unfortunately, so all made sense. Another visitor and her whole family had it.My dose wasn't as bad as others - but keen not to get it again as approaching 3rd trimester...
