Back pain in first trimester?

Hi everyone,

I’m nearing the end of my first trimester (week 10+5) and I’ve been having a hard time getting comfortable with my back. I’ve hard neck pain for a couple of days (which is not unusual for me as my posture is generally terrible and I have a bit of scoliosis), but since yesterday I also have stabbing pain in the middle of my back.

It’s hard to sleep - and also I’m worried that it means something is wrong with the baby as sometimes the pain seems to travel behind my belly button (and also I am so anxious about everything!).

I’m still on lots of meds (progesterone, estradiol) and I’m a bit overweight, so I’m not super surprised my back hurts, but everything worries me at this stage (when will it stop!!!).

Has anyone experienced similar pain or has coping strategies for it?

Have you spoken to your midwife - she will be able to give you some advice to help make you more comfortable . Also keep drinking plenty of fluids in case it is due to a urine infection - if uncomfortable maybe you should put in a sample .Hope this helpful

I've not had any pain like this but pregnancy can do all sorts to you when it comes to stretching etc. Maybe have a chat with your midwife x
