day 1, first IVF cycle

Hi everyone, today is day one of my period and I've been told to call the IVF clinic to let them know.

I was told that they would then arrange an appointment to collect meds. But they haven't told me much else, which is a bit disappointing as it's my first cycle

can anyone please give me any tips on what I should or shouldn't be doing from now, or any advice at all would be massively appreciated

thank you

Hello, when are you due to start your IVF cycle? I hope the clinic are giving you enough time to collect the medicines prior to starting. I'm assuming they have gone through with you how to adminster the medication

Once you have the medicines, you are pretty much good to go once your period starts. Injections start on day 2 usually depending on your protocol.

My general advice would be to make sure you drink 2L of water to make sure the toxins are kept out. Additionally, drink half a litre of milk. I know this is hard to do. I would aim to drink 250ml in the morning in a berry smoothie and then a further mugful of water in the evening. This was recommended by my nutritionist.

Wishing you all the best!

thank you so much for replying.

I was told to ring on day one of my cycle then they would arrange for me to come in and collect meds and on that day I would be shown how to administer them and would start taking tablets between day 16 and 23, would have a bleed then begin injections.

Unfortunately when I rang on my day one to tell then, they asked then when my last smear was and how they wanted me to go for one as it was due within the next year. They've never once mentioned this before, they also told me I should have had a catheter test as I've had colposcopys in the past.

I cannot get a smear appointment for a few weeks so now need to ring on my day 1 next month but due to them closing for Xmas I probably won't have egg retrieval until end of Jan. I'm so annoyed as all of these things could have been sorted earlier on, if they had told me.

Thank you for your advice though, I will keep it in mind for next month 😀

Ah sounds so disorganised from their end. I'm so sorry. I've had my fair share of experience of this so understand how this feels.
