My husband is having his varicocele surgery next week and we are hoping it improves low sperm count and morphology. I was just looking to see if anyone has had any similar experiences and for any success stories to give us hope. Thank you!

Varicocele - any success stories

Hi! Hope it is successful! I’ve come upon many success stories after that surgery!
Can I ask how old you partner is?
I am based in Norway and my partner has few swimmers, poor quality and severe DNA fragmentation (the last we found out one year ago through the sperm comet test)
I sent him to an urologist and they found a small varicocele. But they said it’s no point to operate after the age of 30 as the damage is already done or something. I don’t understand this, fresh sperm is made every 3 months? I really wish we could have the operation, he is 41 now.
Anyways, high intake of antioxidants D, C and E has helped him and frequent ejaculations. (Every day to every other day, so there is hope even if the operation does not help)
All the best,
Nina
Hi, Yes I had positive improvements post surgery. I had a bilateral varicocele with the one on my left side more prominent. At this time I had a count of 5m and only 1% morphology. After 3 months of healthier eating and lifestyle changes I increased this to 20m and 2% morphology. I then had surgery to embolize the varicocele on my left side. 3 months post the procedure my count increased to over 100m and 3% morphology. I have had 2 further tests done since and both have returned counts of over 100m.
