I had a missed miscarriage in December, at the start of December, and opted for medical assistance (not the op).
I know that it can take a while for some peoples cycles to go back to normal, but my question is, how long is too long? I’ve now had two periods and they’ve both been very long (both over three weeks). Also, towards the end what comes out is not like the end of period or discharge; I honestly can’t describe it.
When you ask someone or you google it, everything just says ‘some people take longer than others to go back to normal’. So then how long do you wait until you ask for help? How long is too long?
Can anyone who’s had a miscarriage or a missed miscarriage please just tell me how long it took your body to go back to normal? Did you need any other medical intervention?
I’m grateful to anyone who is happy to share this with me.

So sorry for your loss. Have you had a negative pregnancy test?
The reason I ask is I have had a number of MMC and my periods went really wonky afterwards.. however when they were absolutely screwed it ended up being because I had retained tissue and so needed surgery.. I was however still getting positive pregnancy tests though and thats the way of them knowing it (plus an ultrasound).
I have to admit I had one MMC when my cycles went back to some sort of normal within a month but it also took 6 months another time. Its also worth mentioning that they didnt return to what was the 'old normal' but instead the cycle was longer, periods were heavier and I had a whole range of PMS symptoms I never used to have x
Thank you so much for replying and giving me that information.
I’ve had 3 negative tests, so I feel confident that there shouldn’t be any tissue left.
I’m so sorry that you’ve had to go through this more than once. It’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to me and I’m already terrified it’ll happen again.
I’ve been doing ovulation strips as well, and I haven’t ovulated in this cycle or the last.
I think its quite normal for it to take a while to get back to normal. I didnt ovulate for a couple of months then found I ovulated on a completely different day from previously.. around day 16 when it had previously been day 12 so I was actually missing it as not testing for long enough. I know its absolutely maddening as you just want to be back to 'normal' so you can feel like you are doing something positive.. I really hope this next month calms down and sorts itself out xx
Me too. Even if I just ovulated, I’d feel so much better.
I just don’t want to let it go on for too long, then someone say ‘why did you let this go on for so long?’ But every medical person has just said ‘everyone is different - some people take a while’. But to me a while is 4/5 months. What if a while is a year?
Hello, my question is same but I have my period s every two weeks exhausted of having periods all the time... since December 😪 just spoke to the doctor and wasn't concerned at all, after two month having 4 periods every ten days bleeding feeling very hormonal, she said to wait another two months left me very frustrated as I would like to have another cycle.
