Hey guys. This is my first post. Alittle over a year ago, I lost my very first child, Cheyenne. I was 15weeks and 6 days, and the doctors couldn’t give me a real explanation for why it happened, but told me that I could have problems in the future. Granted, it wasn’t the most ideal situation, I thought of her as a blessing, and was looking forward to meeting her. Then, I lost her. Ever since that day, I’ve struggled with healing, I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety. How have you guys healed from your miscarriages? How do you stop yourself from breaking down every now and again from just thinking about your child, and what your life could of been? I’m just a mess, and would really like some support, and comfort, and suggestions. Thank you in advanced.

Hello Mackie have you sought help? I know you may not want to but it would really help a lot. I'm sure there are support groups around your area too, try asking your OB about finding one. You can also ask her if she can recommend a counselor or therapist. A year is a long time to grieve. I hope you can finally move on.

Hi Mackielover06,

I was checking out this community and saw your post only had one reply! I know it’s a little old, but I hope I can still provide some support.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s one of the most painful experiences any of us can have in this life and it’s expected to take a long time to heal. Please know that you aren’t alone in this journey.

Trauma is something that happens in our mind and body. As a result, to truly heal it often takes additional tools other than talk therapy, which I also highly recommend if you aren’t currently seeing someone. But in addition to that, a few books I’ve found extremely helpful are The Body Keeps the Score, which is about the mind-body connection with trauma and Yoga for Emotional Trauma and Healing Anxiety, Depression and Unworthiness by Mary NurrieStearns.

Don’t let the yoga part turn you off. It isn’t yoga you’d find in a gym. It’s mostly writing activities, mindfulness and meditation with some gentle yoga stretches.

I also highly recommend the app Insight Timer. It has tons of free guided meditations. I’d recommend yoga nidra and loving kindness meditations for trauma, emotional pain and anxiety.

Please try to be compassionate and patient with yourself through this process.
