Conceiving with one ovary.

Hi everyone,

I don’t even know where to start.....feels a little weird.

I only have one ovary, I had ovarian cancer when I was 18 (I’m now 31). The infected one was removed (it actually wasn’t anything like an ovary in the end due to it being a 12” tumour).

My remaining ovary was later operated on to remove cysts.

I’ve since had an abundance of internal scans and check ups and have been told my remaining ovary is healthy, looks good etc everything I wanted to hear.....blah blah blah.

But I just really want to know if it’s any more difficult t conceive. My partner and I are going to start trying this month. And I’m already panicking that I won’t be able to (not going to help I know!)

There’s so contradictory stuff in the internet about single ovaries ovulating every month, only occasionally etc.

Any help, tips etc what ever is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

K

A friend of mine was diagnosed with stage 4 endo ( just like me) She had surgery to remove it. Then her RE discovered a massive endometrial cyst on her right ovary. She removed almost all of that ovary, and it no longer produced eggs. She got pg on her first IVF cycle and has a 15 month old now. She also had a high fsh and low amh so the deck was stacked against her. Cases differ, hun. All it takes is one good egg! (Hoping from the healthy ovary you have) All the best x
