How many of you have had to have a biopsy for your FLD?I GO NEXT Wednesday for one.
And how many have done a detox for your liver?

A liver doesn't need detoxing. When you think about it, man has lived on this planet for over 200,000 years, during that time, for the best part, livers have been working just fine. They didn't need detoxing back then, nor do they need it now.
One of the 500 different function the liver performs is the detoxify of the blood. The liver passes around 2000 litres of blood and filters it 350 times per day. Because the liver is constantly dealing with nasty stuff, it is given a wide birth by the immune system. The liver is immune privaliged. It has its own defence when it comes to dealing with nasties.
Taking supplements like Milk Thistle can do more harm than good. So care is needed.
I could not agree more with Richard-Allen’s reply. There are so many supplements and garbage out there that can do your liver more harm than good. There is no magic solution. Please run anything and everything you plan to take by a good qualified hepatologist.
The best solution for our livers now is to eat healthy, no garbage, no processed foods and organic if you can. Get good sleep, exercise and keep stress low.
Regarding the liver biopsy, have you been told they suspect you have hepatitis? I believe that is the only reason to confirm and get a biopsy. The liver is a huge organ and sticking a needle in one little part of it to confirm what - cirrhosis?
I would say in my opinion, an MRE is far better, more accurate and covers the total liver with a diagnosis of both fat and liver stiffness.
Best of luck and good health in your future.
I had a biopsy and was glad I did. Every blood test showed something different fibroscan indicated cirrhosis f3 and advanced fatty liver and my gastroligist was willing to settle. Suggested to watch my diet and said i could have 9 to 12 years as long as things didn't change, to concentrate on quality of life. He didn't believe in reversal said he had never seen it happen. I didn't like his attitude and found a hepotoligist who at first examination said he didn't think I had cirrhosis. He didn't believe in fibroscan and didn't use it and since blood test showed different readings he suggested biopsy. I had it, the worst part was the unknowing and laying on my right side for an hour and then on my back for a couple hours. Biopsy showed Stage 1 fibrosis zone 3 with mild fatty liver. My rheumatologist said it's pretty hard to make is to 70 without some liver fibrosis and most everyone has some fat in their liver. So between the two I felt much better about my diagnosis. Now, my primary orders my regular bloodwork every 3 months and yearly my hepotoligist orders his blood work and an ultrasound. This year everything was normal reading for everything, first time that has happened in years by watching diet. No cleansing has ever been suggested, the only vitamin suggested by the hepotoligist was E and C, both known for healing and D by primary and rheumatologist.
I have had many biopsies as I was in a research program for over 3 years. No biggy, a little pain, if they do it right. I did have one that got infected and had to take an antibiotic a few weeks later, I'm in stage 4 have been for 22 years. I don't believe in detox because if they liver doesn't like something that is what causes the pain. If it is over worked. I treat my liver very carefully and don't like to make it work overtime. I rest and sleep 8.5 to 9 hours a day as my liver works best at rest. Don't put man made materials in your body for the liver to digest. In my opinion skip the detox, that is worst than a biopsy.
I just had my first liver biopsy a few months ago and I was scared to death. I thought I would not be sedated, but thankfully there was sedation. It was much easier than I ever thought. How this helps you not to worry too much.
