Hi Mom
A lot of us have had the same kind of experience. Fatty liver, no problem, till one day it is. Steatosis means fat in the liver, the question you will want your doctor to answer in followup is whether you also have inflammation or NASH which is the more advanced problem. The answer in either case is lifestyle but, particularly with high iron, it is important to know exactly where you are. I have had to do phlebotomy, blood draws, to manage my iron. There is a lot of info on our website.

The important thing to know is that you do have the ability to manage this.

Yes , some other had same reply, I was told immediately to go on low carb diet, Lay off junk food, pop, and of course all alcohol, after 18 mos, I am down to 2 meals a day 30 carbs a day. Chicken, lean pork, fish. No bread, potato, rice, pasta, grain, sugar, milk. I also have #2 diabetes, so I also guard my blood sugar. So don't eat sweet fruit and hi sweet vegetables like peas corn carrots. I eat a lot of eggs and hard cheese. I hope that helps you, more questions, give me a holler. Ron
well all people are different and all have different drs. and there a lot of different diet. With my NASH and NAFLD & I have hhad diabetes my entire adult life, so with all that it was decided what was best for me was a low carb diet, no sugar or grain white or wheat flour. But all and all You must have your drs, determine what your whole diagnosis is for your self so when you start your diet and exercise to loose weight and to strengthen that liver, your 1st step will be in the right direction. Please ask for a referral to a gastrologist for hepatis specialist. They will tell you what to do. Family Dr. do not understand.
