Bloodwork shows nash with no fibrosis but elastography shows fibrosis. I'm confused

Hi there, I was recently diagnosed with fatty liver. I had a fibrosure blood test and it confirmed in boderline nash. Mild steatosis and no fibrosis. After that my gastro ordered an elistography I got results today and it suggests moderate to severe fibrosis. I'm waiting for my Dr to call me. But I can't help but be upset and freaked out. Anyone have similar tests with different results? I have changed my whole way of eating since I found out I have nash and I've been exercising 30 mins a day. Just trying to positive and keep the faith

You should see a nutritionist (a real pro, not a chiropractor promising a "lose weight quick" scheme) and consider an endocrinologist. Keep your chin up!

Thank you , yes I definitely need a nutritionist because I've read such contradictory stuff on what to eat.

Which from of Elastorgaphy did you have Fibroscan or MRE? If it’s the MRE, I would trust that over blood work. What did it say about fat content of the liver?

I did shear wave elastography. Spoke to my gastro last night she said that those test are never 100% and because my blood work showed no fibrosis she's leaning more towards the blood work but referred me to a hepatologist to do the Mre I believe and perhaps some pther testing. Just really hoping for the best here. My liver enzymes and overall blood work are all in normal range too. This just has had me so anxious and upset.

MRE is right, bloodwork means little to nothing, there are people with cirrhosis with normal blood work, but usually their platelets are low. Most people with advanced liver disease have low platelets (85%). good luck.

Ty , yes hopefully I can get the Mre done and get some peace of mind.

Well did you ever get the Mre?

Sophia when you say low platelets what’s considered low?

So, is that a fibroscan? I had a false fibroscan stating cirrhosis. Followed up with am MRE and everything was fine, without even any fibrosis. . Try to stay calm. Easier said then done. But, the MRE will tell you everything.
