Looking for a good diet for weight loss for cirrhosis possibly using my vitamix using fresh fruits and vegetables and soups

Hi everyone, I am on a quest to help my son lose weight for his cirrhosis. He recently had to go on a medication to help control ammonia levels. So they took him off his diuretics. This has caused a significant weight gain for him in a short period of time. His weight is up to 317 right now and we are very concerned. I am hoping that he can continue his diuretics now for a while, because he has copd too and it can be hard on his lungs when he gets this much fluid retention. He is very depressed about the weight, he is only 38 years old and has a family. Has anyone ever had results using their vitamix creating celery juice for morning detoxifications and making fresh soups and juice blends for daily eating, like a liquid diet that was beneficial. He has an appt with his GI physician next week and a future appt with Vanderbilt in late April with a hepatologist. We don't have a nutritionalist at UT Medical Center right now for advice. I have purchased several books from the medical medium Anthony Williams Liver Rescue book and his other two one for thyroid rescue and Celery Juice one. I would appreciate any feedback from anyone that has tried anything that worked. I haven't had a lot of time to read the entire books end to end, but they look like they could be very helpful. Thanks so much!

Hi Bloom

I certainly admire your efforts to help. It is a very challenging medical problem. The questions you are asking are the hardest for us to deal with. We are science based and getting advice from the spirit world through various angels is just not a path we can take. While we view such advice as mostly thinning your wallet, the Williams "spirit" does generally advise eating various plants which is a good idea regardless of the marketing pitch. It is a horrible situation to face this without being able to get medical advice. I can point you to our approach to food but you should know that your son's condition is complex and there is no magic bullet and Dr Google and the hustlers on the internet are often dangerous and none of the fads have been shown to work. As you know, you need to get to specialist care but in the mean time no sugar, very low salt, mostly vegetables, limited simple starches, and increased unsaturated fat.

I was in stage 4 with cirrhosis and I went on the Optavia weight loss program and lost 48 pounds in 2.5 months. I feel so much better and I'm now in Stage 3. I find staying away of foods with preservatives and steroids is best. So FRESH is the way to go. I love the Optavia weight loss you eat every 3 hours. It ads up to about $4.00 a meal, so not to bad. Good Luck, it is hard.

The “100 days of real food” green smoothie formula is What I do. They come out perfectly delicious each time

Formula is

2 cups spinach

2 cups liquid (I use coconut water)

(Blend those first)

Then add 3 cups of fruit. I usually add 1 frozen banana , then 2 cups of berries.

I also add In 2 TBSP chia seeds and 2 TBSP flax. (Blend with the fruit)

Makes 2 big glasses

Thank you so much! Do you drink two of these a day in place of a meal? Really appreciate your taking time to answer!

Just kind of depends.

Sometimes I have both, sometimes I will have the 2nd one the next day. They save just fine refrigerated.

Sometimes make it into a meal with toast and PB or handful of walnuts or something. Sometimes just as a snack.
