I was taking Bydureon for T2D for 18 months. Due to a snafu in how the following Rx was written after refills had been exhausted, i was off it for about 6 months. During that time, my liver, which had been improving amazingly, got worse and I gained about 20 pounds. The only change during that time was the lack of Bydureon. Finally back on the Bydureon for the last 7 weeks, as well as on a low dose of Crestor. I am both curious and hopeful that this improves my liver. I find myself wondering how bad my liver would be had I not made rather extreme modifications to my diet and started exercising regularly when first diagnosed with NASH. I continue with my diet, eating a lot of broccoli, tofu, and mung bean sprouts, and having organic extra virgin olive oil, coffee, and green tea daily. I drink 100 oz of water a day, and consume a good deal of garlic and ginger. My PCP recommended adding moringa leaf to my diet, which I have done. I do a lot of cardio daily. I slacked off on resistance training though and have to get back into it. Since going back on the Bydureon, I have dropped 6 pounds. My next appointment with my hepatologist is in March so I will know then if there is some improvement.

I think we all wonder. When I was first diagnosed I didn't know the correct things to eat--just told to lose weight. I just cut back on calories but didn't track nutrients such as carbs or fats. At least you can gain weight. I can't seem to keep a pound on my body.

It sounds like you are doing all the right things. The challenge of monitoring our progress is a question that plagues us all. If only we had something like a glucose monitor of liver function.
