Plan your holidays

Lots of choices - good or bad, from now to the end (of the year). Lose some weight now if your over, so you can enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas. Have a couple of bites of your favorites on those 2 days only. Sip a small glass of wine (1) if that's important to you. And detox it all starting the day after. If possible plan on getting checked in January so you can see your progress and chart your 2021 goals. Without a plan, you are not doing your part. How cool would it be if everyone could post an improvement? How much motivation can we get from each other? Turn the fear into action. Turn the action into success. We can do this. For the record, i'm 2 months into F3 advanced fibrosis (Nash) with an A1-A2 level of inflammation activity. AST is normal ALT is 56. BMI is 27.1 Already changed the diet. If I can lose 5 more pounds i will have lost 10% of my BW before getting my Jan testing.

Hey I'm an F-3 too. That means I have NASH? I thought I had only NAFLD. Are they the same?

F3 means advanced fibrosis. There are 4 stages F0 thru F4. It means there is scarring in addition to the fat. NASH is an advanced form of NAFLD. If you want to be really technical, you need a biopsy to definitively say you have NASH, but non-invasively, based on the score, you have NASH. The good news is that you don't have F4 yet, meaning if you act now, you may be able to reverse it, or at a minimum stop the progression. As with me, this is our wake up call.

Thanks. I really appreciate your positivity. You are right it is not a 4! I just need to find a doctor who actually wants to see me and monitor my progress. I wondering is it because there is really nothing he can do at this point other than what I've already done which is loose weight? What does your doctor do when you go to see him/her. All my blood work is great (never had high number), but apparently that is possible to have great numbers on blood work and still have NASH.

Thanks always for responding.

My liver doctor runs blood work that is more in depth than the typical CBC or CMP that a GP would order. He established a baseline and now we monitor. He also examines me physically. He checks the feel of the abdomen for hardened, swollen or abnormal areas. He also orders an annual ultrasound. All of this should be standard procedure for a gastro doc that has a liver specialty.

OMGOODNESS. I’ve has none of that done. My GI doctor has not ordered blood work in a year nor has he ever examined me. I got to find a new doctor.

Yes mine does too. I was in F4. I have lost 40 pus pounds in F3 maybe 2 now, but I do have Nash. I have know I've had it for 20 years. I am on the research program, but my specialist has always done MRI's or Ultra sounds every 6 months or 1 year. Always major blood work because it will not show you have a bad liver but it will show if it is affecting other organs which it will. Especially your heart. If your liver isn't functioning properly many organs aren't functioning properly. Believe me in 20 years I've had many shut downs. Grapeewizard your doing great. Bubbie 5 you need a new dr. and you have a lot to learn. Listen to your body. It will tell you what it doesn't like and don't keep doing what it doesn't like. Good luck
