I was diagnosed with NASH/NAFLD 9 month ago with the only recommendation was life style change (daily exercise) and weight loss of about 100 lbs. (my weight was 323) I lost about 40 lbs and feel better but can't seem to get the scales to continue their downward trend. This morning I read about a trial that was done using Berberine supplement, that showed improvement in the test subjects with NAFLD and NASH. The study showed the dosage as 3 times daily but did not give dosage amounts that I could find.
Has anyone here tried Berberine to improve NASH or NAFLD?

Not being doctors we can't really have recommendations about meds. I did see that study and there are some indications that berberine might be useful but the evidence isn't solid yet and with supplements you can never be sure you are really getting what is claimed. Some people who get stuck find that a 24 hour fast once a week convinces their body that you are serious and can get you going again but a lot depends on what you are eating and the rest of your lifestyle. Not sure that helps but good luck with continued improvement.
Thanks for the reply Wayne, I have been restricting my caloric intake to about 1000 to 1500 calories daily, and work out 20-30 minutes daily on a Total Gym. I also have Type 2 diabetes and take Victoza to regulate my blood sugar. Thanks for all the information about NASH and NAFLD. It really helps knowing there are others going thru this also!
I take 500 mg 3 times a day and it has helped with Nash and blood pressure. My blood pressure was 124/78 at the doctor which usually causes a spike for me.
