Hi everyone. Just wanted to see if anyone had any information on intermittent fasting ? Is it good for liver to do this with 16:8 fasting. So much info out there but hard to distinguish what is truth. Thanks

As a general principal, doing things that ease the burden on the liver is a good thing so eating a good diet and giving the body time to manage the things you've thrown at it by intermittent fasting is a net positive. However, that depends on just what problems you are dealing with . Some conditions do better with frequent small meals so be sure to discuss your particular risks with your doc.

Thank you. I did a fibroscan in sept 2019 and was told I had some scarring. F-0 and that on scale of 7-14 last year being 11 that I went to a 10. I did add cbd and tumeric to my diet but figured I might try giving liver more rest and see if any improvement when I return. Thank you so much for this site. I have learned so much and feel I’m not alone. 😊

That is the right direction so what you are doing seems to be working. In my case it took be 3 years to go from a Fibroscan of 21.5 to 9.6. It isn't fast but careful attention to diet and exercise can improve things.

Wayne, what is percentage of fat, carb and protein should we be eating daily?

Not an easy question since everyone has different circumstances and needs and we can't give medical advice but broadly, there is a study that suggests that total fats should be at least 37% and a majority unsaturated fat. Protein is an individual need but around 20% works for a lot of people. Here is a link that might help you understand the role of fats.

I am in stage 4 and my doctor ask me if I had tried Fasting. She recommended it. I know when I eat lighter, I feel better. Good Luck.

Fasting had been suggested by a family member. Wasn’t sure if I could actually do it. I guess since my diet is already healthy it didn’t bother me to go 16 hrs and eat during the 8. I thought I might get headaches. Only been doing for week now, but feel good and light like you said. Always searching to improve but get nervous about what is true out there! Why I love this forum to be able to talk to people like me and experiences. Take care!
