How can I get rid of this pain?

Hello everyone

I've had pain for quite a while now but it's getting worse. It goes from my upper right quadrant, through to my back, shoulder and shoulder blades. Any ideas? I was bent double for most of Sunday, it's worse than when I had gall stones!!, It's like someone putting a knife through me. It's wearing me out. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Lynne, sorry hon. The pain is quite painful. I always thought I was getting kidney infections. Anyway I have found that tumeric helps more than anything. Hugs

Thank you so much for replying, it's so exhausting. How are you feeling? Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

My experience with turmeric was not a good one. DO NOT, (PLEASE ,OH PLEASE!) purchase turmeric with black pepper added! This will really harm your liver! And Nexium and turmeric can never be taken together.

Can you tell me more about this? What happened to you when you took turmeric with black pepper in it?

Sure, Hope,

I posted my story under "baffled by bile." I had my gallbladder removed years ago with the symptoms of nausea, anxiety, rib pain, and referred pain in right neck and shoulder. (not your typical symptoms) It took doctors 31/2 years to discover my gallbladder was not functioning & was full of sludge. Doctor after doctor told me "no stones, it must be IBS ( irritable bowel.)"

Fast forward.

The last several years, with much joint, muscle, and nerve pain, I was told it must be fibromyalgia. So, silly, stupid me bought turmeric/ curcumin for pain as a natural solution. Again, stupid me thought more would be better. And then came an offer on line that I decided to try. ( money back guarantee- must be good.) This was doctor-formulated. Gotta trust that!

And a couple of months later I was in ER with black stool. ( real scary situation) GI doc found all this bile in my stomach and pooling in my esophagus. ( bile has to reflux there - not supposed to be there.) Biopsies revealed severe reactive gastropathy. What does that mean?

The stomach lining was damaged by something digested. It was a " chemical burn" to simplify it. So only after the biopsies, did I investigate my tummeric alittle further. Here's what I learned. 1. Never take tummeric with a PPI ( I was on Nexium) and 2. Beware of the new formulas now including black pepper extract. It's the extract that's added that is damaging. (Or to be fair, the only thing my Dr and I could come up with at the time.)

In the simplistic explanation, the pepper " overrides" the liver to get it into the bloodstream. ( or that's how I comprehend what I've read. I'll admit now, I'm no chemist.)

So if I could help someone avoid my self -inflicted injury, well, I'd be happy to tell of my stupidity.

I do shop the local health food store. The black pepper extract formula is growing in popularity, across all brands. I just sigh. I don't know how to stop it. And to be honest, maybe my liver had a predisposition.

Well, this is my personal experience, and if I could help someone who might also have I weaken liver... I took the opertunity to share here. Hugs to all the liver sufferers. Remember, you're never a lone.

PS I find nothing wrong with using it as a spice/ seasoning as God intended.

I had another fibroscan last week and a lot of blood test. Ones I haven't had before. So not sure what is up. But funny suspension that something has changed. Should have test back hopefully no later than Wednesday.

Hope you feel better soon. Many hugs

Please let me know how you got on. I've heard of a new blood test called elf, not sure what it's for exactly but I know it's to do with liver. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Any solutions, Lynn?

I'm up again, literally feeling your pain. Can not sleep any length of time.

Same here

I really feel rough, had the runs for a week and a half, been sick today, have felt very nauseous, in so much pain, this the worst I've felt.

Hope you are feeling better

Take care Lynne

Lynne,

Feeling any better?

I've been wrapping my neck with a warmed herbal wrap heated in the microwave when going to bed. Helps me fall asleep. Moist heat is a trick I learned a few years back.

Hope you're feeling better.

Hi

I tried the microwave ones, left it in too long a few times and burnt myself, I'm not fit to be let out!!! Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Hi Lynne - & everyone dealing with this. I haven’t posted for a while. The discomfort over the liver int he right front quadrant has remained the same - more of a discomfort than whaat I’d call pain. But oh my gosh the pain in the upper right quadrant of my back has continued to become worse since it began in August 2018. Now it’s very painful all the time and makes it difficult to lower myself to the bed at night, to turn over in bed, & to raise myself up to get out of bed in the morning. It hurts to turn, when I sneeze - pretty much every movement is painful now. Halal bladder issue ruled out with ultrasound in Sept. Hepatologist ordered another ultrasound which I just had Jan 4, 2019 so I don’t have results. She just doesn’t think it’s related to the liver, but I don’t know what else it could be. I have trouble sleeping because I can’t get comfortable. Do any of you have that kind of pain in that area of the back that no cause has been determined for other than probable enlargement of the liver pressing on other organs?

Thanks for ‘listening’ and any information / suggestions. Wishing all of you well.

Char

PS - That was supposed to say Gall Bladder issue ruled out. Clumsy typing!

Hi

Hope you feel better soon. The pain I get is far worse than my gall bladder pain was and that was bad enough!!! I ended up at out of hours just over a week ago, he just gave me stronger meds and wasn't very helpful. I'm due to see my consultant sometime in February, not got date yet. His secretary said she will sort it out when he gets back off his holidays. Thank you to you and everyone else for all your support

Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Hi Lynne

I haven’t heard anything yet. I haven’t had gallbladder problems before so don’t know what that would feel like. It seems as if my hepatologist doesn’t suspect it’s from my liver. She thinks I’d have worse pain in front right quadrant instead of back upper right. I do have discomfort in front right but the back is worse

Love & hugs to you too! 💕

Thank you

I do get pain from from front to back as I did with gall stones though this is even worse. I never thought it would be worse but it certainly is!! Hope you feel better soon. Lots of love Lynne xxxx
