First please excuse me if you do indeed have Fibromaylgia. I am venting, please allow me. It is so frustrating trying to get a Fibroscan in New York, everyone wants you to have a consultation first! It is a freakin 8 minute scan, why do I need a consulatation! btw my B12 keeps showing as elevated according to reputable sources sign of Liver disease.
Frustrated!

That is one of the main problems we are working to solve. Our screening project is aimed at getting early screening for liver disease be the norm. Also, the price they want to charge is crazy. We are doing it for free in our study but we plan to offer it for less than $100 to anyone who wants one. There is no reason it should only be available to specialists.
This may or may not be a good option for you, but have you considered a quick trip to Canada? A Fibroscan in Toronto (or many other Canadian cities) is $125 with no referral needed. You see your results on the spot, plus get a hepatologist's report by email a few days later explaining the numbers in greater detail. Flights routinely go on sale for about the same amount on AirCanada. You're there and back the same day, and for less than $300 all-in, it's great for peace of mind.
