Yesterday I had an MD ordered ultra sound because “numbers” were too high and I had a bout with gout about 10 years ago. My MD called this morning: “My God, you have a fatty liver”! I says, “well, I’m fat, kinda, what do expect”? 55 years active heavy working, wine with a steak and maybe a beer or two with pizza. I’m s’posed to see a specialist in fatty livers in January. I have no symptoms, whatever they may be, so I’m shocked. 72 years on this planet and no health problems. I can still work the young’uns hard, right next to them. So, what is this fatty liver thing? Thanks for this link. Dave Makela, agent orange receptor, Viet Nam 1968.

Fatty liver, at 72? Whaaaaat?

Hi, Dave,
First, thank you for your service. 🇺🇸
I know it’s not funny, but your post made me laugh. I had the same reaction you did when told I have fatty liver. I’m fat - kinda, too. I resent the name of this thing and haven’t told anyone I have it. LOL Mine was found incidentally, as well. Apparently this thing is diet related and there are usually no symptoms, at least initially. I haven’t even had blood work for this so I’m clueless, too. I’m working on losing weight and eating more healthy, although I haven’t gone the super strict route of no sugar or white bread, flour, etc. I’m told on this forum and from “Dr. Google” that fatty liver is reversible. Hope your doctor gives you some guidelines to follow so you can deal with this before it becomes a bigger issue. Good luck. Jackie

If you can lose the weight it is reversible however be careful it can go to Hyper portal high blood pressure as well as cirrhosis of the liver then the Cirrhosis will not go away and can become terminal. I have a fatty liver as well as a enlarged spleen and cannot have any surgery at all due to a blood issue. So for me it is terminal. I am 56 figure 3 to 5 good years and that is it. But I have come to terms. with it.
larged spleen can't

Yes can't they give it a better name, really! I have it @ 68.
