Feast and Fast

I have been trying to keep up to my target weight (while still not eating after 14:00).

I had two mince pies yesterday - and I thought:

"Is this the begging of the end?"

...but, as I have been under my target weight, I have not done a longer fast for two or three months.

So - I have decided to feast over Christmas and the fast for a few days.

Most of the scheduled meals I eat are OAP charity meals and they do not happen over Christmas.

Who is going to join me in a post-Christmas fast?

Hi S11m

Did you enjoy your Mince Pies? I hope so!

I know you've decided to Feast over Christmas and Fast for a few days after - and I'd like to wish you the best for Christmas and Beyond - hope it all goes very well.

I'm not committing to any Fasting myself - as I must admit that I've been enjoying my food far too much - but I do want to wish you the best for all your goals, and I think you're doing really well.

Zest :-)

I started the fast after an "ample" Christmas lunch - which is not ideal, as I ate carbs, which will delay the start of autophagy.

20 hours in I was one kg over my target weight - I think that is ideal.

24 hours - walked 8km. this will have burnt off most of the glycogen and help get me into autophagy.

48 hours in I walked 6km - and I think that that got me into well into ketosis and autophagy.

I broke my fast after 68 hours, a kilo below my target weight.

I woke up with palpitations - apparently, this is a normal side-effect of ketosis, particularly if you have low blood pressure, as I have.

I took an ECG (no Atrial Fibrillation) and noticed that my pacemaker was working at 66 beats per minute - and it does not normally come on at rest much above 50.

My gizmo indicated that my pulse was about 55 when I fell asleep, and twice peaked over 85!

Some might be concerned by these numbers - but I do not feel hungry, and I would have continued the fast if I had not got lunch with my son scheduled for today.

Not what you're looking for?
