Today after my 18 hour fast, I felt peckish, but I was craving salty things. I guess fasting makes you want salts, so I bought a bag of tortilla chips, the kind for dipping in salsa and guacamole, and then I brought in a bag of Avocados, Limes, Habaneros, Cilantro, etc.. for Guacamole, and that was what I ate. Just some chips and salsa and guacamole. 5 hours later I had a turkey wrap, with Turkey, Black Forrest Ham, Bacon and Swiss Cheese with a Spicy ground mustard.
For me... eating the tortilla chips was a treat, so salty and yum.
The wrap was a treat too. Carbs that I normally don't consume, but my body was saying "Me wants! Me wants!"
Tonight I'm having grilled veggies and fish.

Salsa and guacamole sounds lovely!.. Interesting to read about salt cravings. Our bodies responses and signals for what we need is pretty amazing.
Sound like you have a healthy understanding of what your body is saying though.
Since I started eating very low carb a few months ago, and intentionally adding sea salt to my food, my very strong salt cravings have finally gone away, completely. I often used to feel the need to eat a whole pack of very salty crisps or something similar, nothing to do with hunger, but I didn't realise that then! I just had been programmed to think salt was evil, to be avoided at all costs! Lol!
I fast 20 hours almost every day - and I do not get hungry ...except occaisionally when I am cold and below my target weight!
What is your system? How often do you fast for how long?
I take half a level teaspoon of Himalayan salt every morning in my 1.75 litres of green tea.
Hi WebMistress fasting and especially in hot weather can make us need salt to top up our electrolytes so it makes sense you craving salty food. Your meals sounds delicious and I know that you're doing well fasting so good for you. 😊
