I have not read the whole article, but to quote from the Abstract:

Sixteen obese subjects (12 women/4 men) participated in a 10‐week trial with three consecutive dietary intervention phases: (i) 2‐week baseline control phase, (ii) 4‐week ADF controlled feeding phase, and (iii) 4‐week ADF self‐selected feeding phase. After 8 weeks of treatment, body weight and waist circumference were reduced (P < 0.05) by 5.7 ± 0.9 kg, and 4.0 ± 0.9 cm, respectively. Fat mass decreased (P < 0.05) by 5.4 ± 0.8 kg, whereas fat‐free mass did not change.

It is particularly significant that the lean (fat-free) mass did not change.

Interesting! I found the Mifflin equation, and calculated I'd be on 300 calories every other day. Well done to those who stick to it long term :)

I thought that one of the best things about fasting was that you do not have to calculate anything!

I guess maybe they think this one tiny meal on every other day stops a feeling of total deprivation?

You can fast for two or three days a week instead of every other day.

To make ADF achievable, I think it is best to get your body into "Fat burning mode" with Intermittent Fasting.

I suppose that ADF with one (small) meal is OMAD (One Meal A Day) every other day... and should work.

I was thinking that one small meal every other day might make you hungry for more food, stop ketosis and autophagy, reduce weight loss...
