Hi all - as avoid-sugar has been posting updates about how things are going I thought I’d add my experiences of upping the fasting window from 14 to 16 hours.

It happened a little by accident. I was in full work flow, felt a bit hungry at 13.5 hours and decided to have a glass of water and wait. Next thing I knew, 2.5 hours had passed and I still wasn’t hungry. So I ate anyway and finished 8 hours later rather than 10.

Next day I was mindful of that small hunger pang - had a glass of water - hunger gone and made it to just before 12 again for lunch.

And I have just kept going like that for 5 days now. I still think of my official eating window as 10 - 8, so it feels like I’m just delaying my morning coffee rather than facing a whole morning without, but I’m experimenting with going longer if I feel able. And so far I feel able!

If I feel a bit hungry between hours 12 and 16, I also visualise my body cells unshackled from the labour of having to digest new food, and being free and energised to chip away at my fat instead - and I don’t want to interrupt them!

While It’s all mind-tricks, they are positive mind-tricks so I don’t feel ‘deprived’ but also if I don’t last the full 16 hours, I won’t feel bad about it - they’re all ‘bonus minutes’ after 14 hours. 😁👍
